I noticed those cool looking Praetorian Legions (Rome) are gone after the Marian reforms being replaced by 2 different regular legion unit types. The other 3 ground units are also no longer available. It's like after the Marian reforms the Roman ground force doesn't have as much diversity, I wish it would just be the same throughout the entire campaign. The game would have a lot more diversity unit wise if your playing Romans.

Praetorian legion is gone? It stay' s in Latinum until you fight and destroy it. You will be able to recruit a Praetorian legion when you have Rome under your control. Game units are divided in

    - Pre marius units : Hastati, Principes, Triarii, velites, ...

    After marius reforms

    - Republican legionnaire : Republican eagle cohort, Republican cohort, spear auxilia, light infantry

    - Imperial legionnaire : Imperial eagle cohort, Imperial cohort, ...

There is a "area of recuitability" in spqr, certain units can only be recuited in certain areas. Read the fact sheet plz, Spqr has numbered legions post marius. You are looking at a city that doesnt allow advance units only aux, look at all your cities recuitment to just how many diff units you can recuit.
