    Icon14 The Fellowship: how to make it (Idea)

    The only thing that this mod needs, a part from custom cities, is the search for the ring. Now, how could it be implemented?

    The travel itself would be coding, nothing unusual. The thing is, how to make the Fellowship company? The regiment.

    The heros are already done, so the only thing needed is the formation itself, now: it's imposible to make formations of one unit, or making one formation with less than four soldiers which aren't the same.

    My suggestion is: making a formation with those four soldiers, making them invisible, giving them no models or skins. And the company (Aragorn, Frodo...) would be added the same way as the musicians, captains and banner carriers.

    The only problem left is how to implement the fellowship one they go pass Moria, when they start to divide. Then the solution would be changing that formation for several others, each one following it's own path through the campaign map. That way we would have one with Frodo and Sam (plus 4 invisible guys), one with Aragorn, Gimli and Aragorn (plus 4 invisible guys), etc...

    This invisible units would have 1 hitpoint each, and would have the lower statitics posible (so that they get killed quickly).

    ---------

    So, if this was done, we would be playing in our campaign map in the begining, with each hero being part of his faction. But the Elrond calls a meeting and those heros disappear, but at the same the Fellowship appears. After that the group of heros go and travel like in the books and movies, as part of the rebel faction or as a faction apart (The Fellowship of the Ring).

    I think that it is a great idea ....

    Especially that of making invisible other units to have Only the Hero ....

    lol, I wasn't expecting this. No, as the title says it's an idea. Not 'just and idea', a real suggestion for the mod team, or for other modders.

    So what happens when the hero dies but the enemy continues to fight those empty units. P.S. Officers ALWAYS die first.

    I don't think he will die after the others. Remember that the ivisible guys have the porest stats you could even give them, 1 hit point and if posible 0 attack and armour. And, at the same time, you have this heros, with uber stats.

    And if if for any reason the invisible guys still live when the others die take it like this: they are finishing the heroes off (kicking them even more, remember Boromir)

    Any way, I think I can get what you mean. Isn't it that officers have different stats?

    Is it possible that the general killing the guy with the ring gets it after the battle, like in lotrtw?

    You cant really script the generals to move all that way without being killed by an enemy army.
    Nice idea, but most likely not possible

    This idea could be further developed, both by the official team and submod modders.

    I'd do it the way LOTR-TW did it .. They did a really good job (especially their scripter Bardo) on that FOTR script .

    + I'm not sure if you can ahve more than 2/3 officers .. And your general is always as strong (or except when he has traits and ancs perhaps ?) as the units that defend him .

    You cant really script the generals to move all that way without being killed by an enemy army.
    Its actually the other way around : You can't script generals all the way with the chance of being killed by an enemy army . Afaik , scripting a character to move "teleports" him somewhere on the map .

    No , but you can make new ancillaries , and give them to a character in a script .

    Wrong. He's not as strong as the units that guard him, but his strenght is proportional with that

    Each turn the fellowship would be in a different place, that way they can always keep their way as they did one the books, while they are there and remain 'attackable'.

    About the general: The same stats as the guys that defend him? I remember that the generals I played with always resist more than their guard... (at least they have better endurance).

    That's probably because of ancillaries and stuff that give extra hitpoints .

    Actually there's a fellowship faction in the game, but it's not ready yet
