Default adding an officer to a unit

    hi all,

im a great fan of hayasdan (eb mod) but one thing bother me . hayasdan infantry does not have officers.

i just want to add hayasdan captain as an officer to the medium armenian swordsmen units.

do you know how to do it?

    thx

The export_descr_unit.txt entry of units has one (or more) "officer" lines, where the name of officer model (as defined in descr_model_battle.txt) is defined. So, just see how otehr units with that officer are coded, and then add the appropriate line to the unit you want.

i copied the name of the officer model (ebofficer_dracones) from descr model .text to the export descr unit.text. the result is this:

    type eastern infantry nakhararakan tiknapah
    dictionary eastern_infantry_nakhararakan_tiknapah ; Nakhararakan Tiknapah
    category infantry
    class spearmen
    voice_type General_1
    soldier eastern_infantry_babylonian_nakhararakantiknapah, 30, 0, 1.22
    officer ebofficer_dracones
    mount_effect elephant -1
    attributes sea_faring, hide_forest, can_sap, hardy
    formation 1, 1.2, 2.4, 4, 4, square
    stat_health 1, 1
    stat_pri 17, 8, no, 0, 0, melee, simple, piercing, spear, 0 ,0.13
    stat_pri_attr light_spear
    stat_sec 12, 8, no, 0, 0, melee, blade, slashing, sword, 0 ,0.225
    stat_sec_attr no
    stat_pri_armour 11, 11, 4, metal

    stat_food 60, 300
    stat_cost 1, 3081, 770, 70, 100, 3081

Of course it is. I think just elephants and chariots can`t have them iirc.

If you don`t actually see the officer it probably means you`re editing the wrong unit entry in EDU. You also need to make sure the officer entry from DMB has texture(and maybe sprites) lines for the faction that the unit it is attached to belongs.

    i give an example:

i added hellenic officer to elite armenian spearmen:

i copied the hellenic officer from this file

    type ebofficer_hellenic_officer

    skeleton_horse fs_hc_swordsman
    skeleton_elephant fs_forest_elephant_rider

as u see the hellenic officer is available for hayasdan (roman scippi) and have a texture

then i pasted the hellenic officer to the edu towards elite armenian spearmen

    we have this then

    type eastern infantry aznavakan tiknapah
    dictionary eastern_infantry_aznavakan_tiknapah ; aznavakan Tiknapah
    category infantry
    class spearmen
    voice_type General_1
    soldier eastern_infantry_babylonian_aznavakantiknapah, 30, 0, 1.22
    officer ebofficer_hellenic_officer
    mount_effect elephant -1
    attributes sea_faring, hide_forest, can_sap, hardy
    formation 1, 1.2, 2.4, 4, 4, square
    stat_health 1, 1
    stat_pri 17, 8, no, 0, 0, melee, simple, piercing, spear, 0 ,0.13
    stat_pri_attr light_spear
    stat_sec 12, 8, no, 0, 0, melee, blade, slashing, sword, 0 ,0.225
    stat_sec_attr no
    stat_pri_armour 11, 11, 4, metal
    stat_sec_armour 0, 0, flesh
    stat_heat 4
    stat_ground 0, 0, 0, -1
    stat_mental 16, disciplined, highly_trained
    stat_charge_dist 30
    stat_fire_delay 0
    stat_food 60, 300
    stat_cost 1, 3081, 770, 70, 100, 3081
    ownership romans_scipii

I believe Custom Battles in EB use a separate EDU file, which is swapped by a .bat file. Ie, any changes you make must be done to the files used by the swap to replace the 'temporary' one that exists in your data folder.

Depends on how the .bat file is set up. I don't have EB installed, so you'll have to try it and see.

OK thanks Florin,I just wasn't sure...but will this weekend try. On Elephants you can't see an officer or any other well anyway so no probs there.

You may also be able to use the same DMB entry for both the mounted and dismounted officer if you don`t care that besides the mount, the officer looks identical. If you don`t, you just give skeletons to the officer in DMB for all types of situations, like it is set for the generals. And you don`t add any sprites. For the mounted standard bearer you`d have to use the eb animation because afaik it`s the only one that doesn`t require the model to be edited too.
