What am I doing wrong?
ok I just downloaded SPQR and was eager to play it. I ran the install and installed it to a new "SPQR" folder within my RTW folder so as not to overwrite vanilla. But when the initial extraction finished the install exited and didnt install anything. The files are all there as they should be, but the game itself wont install. why?

It needs to overwrite the vanilla files. The best way to keep a vanilla version is to copy it.
Start over :
- Delete your RTW folder.
- Install RTW again and patch it to version 1.5 (except when you have gold edition, it already is 1.5)
- Copy paste the RTW folder to a different location
- Install SPQR to one of these locations
Now you will have a Vanilla game and SPQR game.

You have to allow it to overwrite your original files. Follow what Hesus said.
