    Default Commander Skills, Betraying

I have just recently downloaded the S.P.Q.R. Mod, and it is practically the same as the normal version. Just a few minor changes with troops factions etc. But I have tried to train up my Commanders of my armies to get better command. Thing is, I don't know how to, I think you have to fight battles until he gains enough experience, but I just went trough a 7000 troops battle with him commanding 3000 men, we won with minor casualties. He didn't gain any Command. Next thing I know he joins the Roman Rebels. I use one of my best commanders and my commander destroys the army he had,(Which use to be mine) and he fell back to as spot where my armies couldn't reach. But I will talk about how to maintain my Commaders later. I am trying to do the same thing with another Commander, he has more loyalty so hopefully he will stay with my Empire. The skills he has is

    Command: 3 stars
    Management:0 stars
    Loyalty: 4 stars
    Influence: 3 stars

I want to know each way I could possibly upgrade This character's skills. Especially Command. I want him to be mainly a fighting commander. Not a peace-loving character. I want to train most of my Commanders to be Military Commanders. I will set aside some character's to maintain the settlements. By the way, I would also like to know what each skill does. I do not know what management does or how to train it. I want to leave this up to people who does know what it does and how to train it.

Now, for Betraying. As I mentioned earlier I had a Commander of one of my armies turn over to the rebels. I had just finished a 7000 man fight, right after that he changed over. He only had one star in Influence, and no stars in any other skill category. I am not sure if that is the reasion or not. I want to know how to maintain a commanders happiness so that I don't have any more competition. I do have 7 armies with 3000 men each standing by to destroy the only base they have. But they will only come back and turn more of my Commanders over to there side. I am willing to do just about anything to keep them on my side. I have enought power and money if needed. It just annoys me that my Commanders are going to Rebels. So far only 2 have, but the number will increase. So any help with either of those topics would be greatly appreciated.

    Character: also means Commander.

Just use him to fight all your battles he will become a military commander that way. But remember the chance of him becoming a rebel is still floating around. Read the Read me in the storage room you will find some information on Loyalty.

Does it really matter when you control manually the battle how much stars your general has?

Yeah, it does... it affect how prone your own units are to retreating, and also it affects the enemy army, how likely they are to retreat (a combination of your general and the enemy generals command)

Interesting. Well I dont really make that kind of decisions. I usually just appoint or recruit one and have him fight!

Yeah, same with me. Only time I change a general is when his loyalty is around 2 points. Otherwise I find that the ones you recruit pretty much all make decent generals after a few battles! Then there are a few that make it into überness too, but they are not that common

Well, I have had just about every commander that I have tried to upgrade turn to the rebels. But I just kill them. Do you know any way how to stop them from rebelling?

Send them to a city in Italie to govern it. That might help. You can find some tips in the Readme.

Well basically have them in cities although I have found that not to help as well as some of my generals lost all their loyalty even in cities like Capua. And then the city had -6.5% growth rate and such bad things happen.
