    Default New\Old victory conditions?

    {SMT_VICTORY_CONDITION_LAND_OWNER_TITLE}Domination:
    {SMT_VICTORY_CONDITION_LAND_OWNER_DESCR}Capture %d more regions
    {SMT_VICTORY_CONDITION_TYCOON_TITLE}Tycoon:
{SMT_VICTORY_CONDITION_TYCOON_DESCR}Build your empire up such that %d florins is generated per turn
    {SMT_VICTORY_CONDITION_TIME_LIMIT_TITLE}Timed:
{SMT_VICTORY_CONDITION_TIME_LIMIT_DESCR}Become the most powerful faction in %d turns
    {SMT_VICTORY_CONDITION_OUTLIVE_FACTIONS_TITLE}Survivor:
    {SMT_VICTORY_CONDITION_OUTLIVE_FACTIONS_DESCR}Hold %d provinces and destroy
I have come across these lines and now I am wondering if those conditions can be set? Or is it again a left over from RTW?

These seem to be the lines that are actually valid:
    {SMT_VICTORY_CONDITION_HOLD_REGIONS_DESCR_1}Hold %d regions
    {SMT_VICTORY_CONDITION_HOLD_REGIONS_DESCR_2}, including:
    {SMT_VICTORY_CONDITION_HOLD_REGIONS_DESCR_3}. Eliminate factions:

Were these actually used in Rome? I don't recall any factions with those victory conditions. Could easily be like triumph and star forts, sloppy strings files would not be anything new.

The win_conditions file is very easy to test though, because you don't even have to enter the game to know if a line reads. For instance, I tried adding "time_limit 5" to my first entry, and then all other factions besides the first lacked victory conditions because it stopped reading the file where it doesn't recognize the type. This can easily be seen from the faction select screen, you still need to restart the game to see changes though.

    I've tried:

    time_limit # - Failed
    time # - Failed
    turns # - Failed
    turn_limit # - Failed
    timed # - Failed

    tycoon # - Failed

So my guess is it's legacy code.

EDIT: I see the land_owner was used in the descr_strat in Rome, but the thread I saw this in stated it had not been successfully modified. Which leads me to believe it might load in the descr_strat but is likely junk code from before they crafted the separate win_conditions file to handle it.

Thanks for putting time and effort in this. Pity it came to nothing usable.

As Edison said: I did not fail 100 times, I just found out a 100 ways of how not to do it.
