    Default War Party / Peace Party

    This thread if for developing the War Party / Peace Party system for the Song Dynasty. Some initial thoughts:
    • Counter values between 0-200, each 1 represents 0.5%
    • Each character has an affiliation based on other traits and the situation at court. Harder to modify affiliation later.
    • Ethnicity impacts affiliation. Northerners much more likely to be War Party, for instance.
    • Chief Councillor elected based on which party holds majority
    • Different effects for every 10% change: 0/100, 10/90, 20/80, 30/70, 40/60, 50/50, 60/40, 70/30, 80/20, 90/10, 100/0.
    • Ability to check using an extension of the diplomacy scroll, event images for all of the above 'milestones' to simplify the # of historic events needed.


    So there's a lot that can make this more complex that needs to be determined. What types of things should bump towards war party and by what %? What about for peace party? Which traits should affect affiliation, and traits should be affected by affiliation? What should the effects of the milestones of distribution be(positive and negative)? Got some more ideas along these lines, but input is appreciated.

    Difficult one this, high level ...and a bit beyond me. Perhaps what kind of hat they prefer to wear might have an impact. Everyone wore hats during the Song dynasty. I learnt that at school.

    EDIT: the Northerners wanting revenge makes perfect sense, but how about characters residing in settlements on the borders too ? They might have a sharper experience of the Jurchens than those further away ?

    For my own future reference:

    Need to have a normalizing factor to represent the views of those who aren't officials represented in-game, but are nevertheless influential. These 'silent movers' will gradually shift the distribution back towards 50/50 as politics tends to maintain an equilibrium through inevitable policy issues and factions developing within the foremost ideal that separate its cohesion. When it comes to war and peace, people will always favor peace over war once patriotism subsides, so the silent movers when war is higher are a bit more charged than those when peace is higher.

    Nevertheless, if the distribution is, for instance, 80/20 for one party, and absolutely no actions which impact it either way were taken, it would eventually normalize back to 50/50 due to these silent movers. The normalization should be stronger as you go higher up the chain, so the player will have to do more to maintain a 90/10 distribution than an 80/20, much less increase it even more.
