IMO you should change those HD's to Western Digital Caviar Black 640GB. It is a much better drive than the Seagate listed and is not expensive. They only have two platters so they are quiet and fast

In the 'High End Affordable Gaming' system you would be fine with the Corsair HX620W, which is modular BTW - same goes for the 'Mainstream Gaming' system.

I am a bit iffy about G.Skill but I will let that slide. I am a Corsair man myself.

Otherwise everything seems fine. Maybe you could provide some alternative choices in spoiler tags or something?

PS - Yes I have not been around for ages.

You're opinions are well stated, Corsair is a good brand. However; I've bought over 30 sticks of this RAM for client builds and I have yet for any of them to fail on me The 620w Corsair one is a good 50$ more expensive then the one I recommended. It's the persons choice if they want to go Modular for the price.

Changed the HD to the Western Digital Caviar Black 640GB 7200RPM 32MB. Very nice harddrive indeed, I don't know how I forgot about it.

About giving alternate choices, Maybe I can offer like an AMD/ATi solution vs a Intel/Nvidia solution?

Your highest high-end build list isn't very spectacular. Good basic stuff though.

I didn't name it "The Spectacular Build" did I? That system can max any game easily on 22", with 24-26" just pop in another 4890 (Mobo supports CrossFire) And you're good to go.

why in gods name do you put the $ after the number? additionally ncix allows you to display USD as well. And a 4890 on the high end. Why not crossfire the a 4870 which wouldn't add all that much more cost to the build.

Although when I think "high end" I think specialty cooled GTX295. like the eVGA hydra models.

Affordable High end I7, I'm not targeting the Enthusiast... an Enthusiast usually knows what the hell their doing

And I put the $ at the back because it's the Canadian way of doing things.

Ya, no one in Canada does that. And it really is annoying. You may want to try and fix that. I hope you don't do that in a professional environment like work or school.

The 4870 in crossfire will be just a about $60 more than a 4890 by itself but performs much better.

I don't put the $ all the way back there, nor does DisgruntledGoat it seems, and we're Canucks too.

Where's the love for AMD, they have good performance for the price right now, and they should definitely be kept in mind for say the affordable and downwards.
RIP Calvin, you won't be forgotten.

Umm, 4870's average about 150 dollars while 4890s are around 200. It'll be $100 more for better performance, not 60.

The 4890 he has in the high end pc goes for 269.99 on NCIX. Thats what I was basing it on.

Ah, OK I see where you're coming from. But if you compare that to the equivalent 4870s from XFX which are 189.99 each, that's a difference of $110 between them. You could choose a cheaper 4890 or 4870.
RIP Calvin, you won't be forgotten.

Damn, i'm so sick of the Intel fanboism around here.

Why on earth would you get a Intel E7400 over a AMD Phenom II X2 550 BE?
