Re: newbie's problem
UAC disabled when you installed?
UAC is part of windows, google it if you don't already know how to turn it off.

Re: newbie's problem
If you checked and found it was off. Then OK.
Try installing to a folder other than program files. It's what I have to do to get my own mod working on 7.

I've installed the DLV 6.0 + 6.2 and I've got this same problem.
I use Win XP.

Re: newbie's problem
Actually...
This isn't the error caused by the user installing 6.2 into the wrong folder is it? I think it might be.
6 goes in mods, and 6.2 goes in m2tw.

Re: newbie's problem
Yep. Make certain that 6 goes in 'mods' folder and 6.2 goes in 'Medieval II Total War' folder.

Re: newbie's problem
So - should I re-install all the MTW2? Or Kingdoms? Or just DLV?

Re: newbie's problem
Install 6.0 to 'mods'
Install 6.2 to 'Medieval II Total War'
If you fail to do this then you will get this error:
15:17:29.559 [script.err] [error] Script Error in mods/DLV_ext/data/export_descr_unit.txt, at line 16523, column 18
Unrecognised engine type 'mangonel'.
Which makes sense because any file not present in the mod is taken from vanilla. And vanilla does not have mangonels, only the kingdoms campaigns have mangonels.
Incidentally I imported mangonels into DLV. One of my earlier contributions, and I did a bit of a sloppy job of it. I think they still have no sounds...
