    Default Alienware Notebook Question

Currently, I am considering getting a new computer as a replacement for this ancient machine which I am currently using. Here's the situation:

I want the mobility of a notebook, but I'm not sure if it has the capacity to play games like RTW, Battlefield 2, etc. My primary concern about the notebook is not the power, it's the stability (ability to resist overheating). If anyone out there owns an alienware notebook, can you give me some outlook on whether or not it is suitable for intense games. Also, if anybody could list the differences between sound quality of a notebook and desktop (alienware computer), and basically a general comparison between the two, it would help out a lot.

Any advice would be much appreciated =D

Depending on which one you get, the Pentium 4 based ones or the Pentium M based ones, they can be very comparable.

Alienware gaming laptops (big, heavy, based on Pentium 4) can sport top notch video cards (X800XT mobilities, etc) and are pretty much just desktops that can be moved around. Sound quality is not an issue, it's just as good as a desktops, albeit less upgradeable if you seriously want a studio-grade card, though USB sound cards are very good (I have a friend with one)

Alienware gaming laptops are pretty much the same as their desktop bretheren in every way as long as you compare a desktop and laptop with comparable components.
Alienwares are pretty stable laptops, but they are loud as hell as a result, vents everywhere (including top) but at least they get decent cooling for their parts.

I would recommend you at least consider the Dell XPS Gen 2 laptop, it is a very good laptop and if stability is an issue for you, it has a Pentium M + Go 6800 Ultra, and that combination is very stable considering the Pentium 4 (2.13ghz) low power draw and high stability giving the 6800 a lot of breathing room.

    Don't get Alienware.
    Their stuff is horribly overpriced.

Dell has the best Laptops for mainstream company, alienware's are not durable at all. They have the same options as Alienware as well.

Also http://www.thunderboxpc.com/ has the best gaming laptops if you dont mind buying from a mainstream company.
Swear filters are for sites run by immature children.

check out ABS, they have some pretty good systems too.
If price isn't a problem, though, check out the Falcon Northwest Fragbook (but seriously, only if price is no factor at all)
