Alexander Camera Bug

Hi,

When I play Alexander Expansion on Rome Total War, during battle mode, the camera is bugged. MY settings of the Camera are (from options):
'RTS' camera
Unticked restrict Camera
speed is in medium range

When I double click on a unit, the camera will try to slowly zoom into it (this is normal). But if I press any key or interupt it (with the keyboard arrows, etc.), the camera glitches up and stops instantly. Usually, the camera will automatically zoom in quicker to the unit (almost instantly), if I press any keyboard button (like the arrow keys).

I have played RTW and BI lots of times, and this never happens on those games, online and through campaign. This camera bug is really really annoying. it only happens for Alexander!!!.

I also noticed that in 'Total War' camera mode, everything is fine (but I dont like the Total War camera mode), with Alexander.

Any help on fixing this bug? thanks

BTW, my RTW has no mods. My computer is very good. I have not edited anything in the RTW or Alex folders. This seems to be a common problem to some people. I dont think editing preference.txt will help. I dont know how to edit and mod the camera. I reinstalled this game a couple of times, on different installation folders too. My computer is a vista. The problems are not because of my computer, Im certain. If it was, then how come some other people experience the same problem? Drivers are updated. My computer is brand new.

I have been insulting this bug since I have Alex, but I haven't found anyone that could explain me how to fix it..

Yeah, this is really annoying for me. Someone should know a fix

This is my order of installation

RTW
RTW 1.3
RTW 1.5

BI
BI1.6

ALEX .....

I tried other orders, still same problem. I tried other Vista computers, still same problem. How would it go on XP? Anyone who has an unbugged Alex camera, tell us your computer specs and installation order pls, thanks. A way to fix this bug would be even more appreciated

actually, you should do this, I think:

RTW
BI
RTW 1.5
BI 1.6
ALEX

I don' think it has anything to do with computer specs or Vista, I have the same bug both on an old XP desktop and on this brand-new Vista laptop..

so ur posting ur insallation orders, and you dont have any camera bugs with these installation?

I dont know if it's the cd disk, installation order or anything which causes this bug.

Imo that was a bit off topic, but since it was already there I thought to point out what is unnecessary. I don`t have camera issues, but I doubt it`s because of the install order.

I meant the patch with upgrades both RTW (to 1.5) and BI (1.6)...

I deleted my preferences folder and tried all possible combinations of camera options, I wasn't able to fix it.

The only positive thing I've noticed is that this bug comes around only with the RTS camera. If you use the Total War camera in battles, when double-clicking on unit cards and then moving the camera, the view goes immediately to the selected unit.

I'll have to get used to Total War camera, it seems...

Damn, there is no apparent "camera" data file for this game, which I can find or see. Maybe someone could tell us where the file for editing the camera could be found. Im sure I could tweak this. Preferences isnt a file for tweaking the camera, it's just an "options" file, but it was worth a try I guess.

you can edit the camera options also via preferences.txt, but it's simpler if you start a battle. Just select Total War style camera and then other preferences to your liking (restrict camera, general camera, scroll\rotation speed..)

That's what I just said, general options, as you would find in menu.

What Im trying to look for is editing the actual camera, from it's limitations, size, etc. Exact editing, but maybe that's hard-coded into the game.

I just realized this thing right now. Kind of makes RTWAlexander completely unplayable for me when using it for mods. I absolutely cannot get used to this, and insta-zooming to selected units is one of those things like having a left hand. Underappreciated (if you're righthanded) but you absolutely cannot function efficiently without it.
