I was thinking about how digital image quality is getting better and better these days, and resolutions are getting better, then I wondered if the human eye has an actual resolution and if we will ever surpass that.

Did you know that a couple of hard drives have more memory capacity then the human brain these days? give it 5 years and your average hard drive will be able to hold more information then we can, at a maximum.
50 years and your average RAM will be bigger then your brain.
I imagine resoloution isnt far behind.
But if you want to be technical about it, a quick google search indicates the image quality the eye gives off is roughy equal to 576 megapixels
Considering the average camera today had 11-12 megapixel pictures, we have some time to go.
(Please note there are probably some experimental or very expensive cameras that can do an insane number of megapixels, but theyre not usually on the market)

Thanks for the reply.
If by resolution you mean "angular resolution" then pretty much any telescope or binoculars are better than the human eye
Some telescopes are already capturing images in gigapixels IIRC so yes it has been surpassed.

No I mean like megapixels. Roy's 576 megs is pretty massive, but we're not far behind. I believe there are some 30+ megapixel specialty cameras out there.
Dayum!! 576 megapixels!!

i would have 40% of those 576 megapixels
I am glad we have glasses.
i have myopia not glaucoma
glasses make me see clear
Interesting, Is it possible to replace the human eye at the moment?
