Default Somethings wrong with my RTR

I've installed RTR in my RTW file (C:/Programme Files/Activision/Rome-Total war) and nothing went wrong. But when i clicked on the desktop icon it said it was trying to find something (forgot what it was), then when i launched it from my RTW file it worked for a breif second then crashed. Is there anything i've done wrong?

have you perhaps installed rtr gold 6.0 or any other mods or official patches. To install rtr you need to have a version of rtr 1.5 or 1.6 i believe. you might have a 1.3 version or something.

    My advise would be to:
    1) Look at the installation instructions for rtr again
    2) back up your rtw save files and the unistalled rtr files as well as any official patches (this will save you time as it means you wont have to download all the stuff again)
    3) uninstall rtw and once done delete any rtw files that might still be in the rtw folder (you should have the important ones backed up
    4) Now install a fresh version of rtr and check what version it is (it will say at the bottom right of the main game menu)
    5) considering you've read the rtr install guide again pimp your rtw to the neccessary version e.g. 1.5 or something. the patches are available on the official rtw website and theres probs links to the patches in the rtr installation guide
    6) Once that bad boy is patched up you can install rtr platimun and you should be ready to play

    Hope i helped!

Whey you post problems please try to be as precise as possible

Wich version of RTR did you install?
    - there are modfoldered and non modfoldered versions, first creates a separate installation, the other one overwrites the existing original RTW.
Wich version of RTW was installed on your PC before?
    - the older versions of RTW have the C:/Program Files/Activision/Rome-Total War, but the newer one have the C:/Program Files/Creative Assambley/Rome-Total War. This is the most common mistake during the installation, since the default path is that with "Activision" ( thatīs because the installer was made a long time ago ).

RTR 6.0 Gold was made for RTW 1.3/BI 1.4 patches ( hope, im right with the exact patch number ).
RTR PE ( the platinum edition ) however is only supported RTW 1.5/BI 1.6 patched installations.

Advise: Allways try to install the modfoldered version, wich most newer mods are.

My first version was 1.3 then i patched it using the patch found here to 1.5,i have downloaded no other mod. I also forgot to mention my knowledge on computer stuff is...limited...very much so.

I installed RTR Platinum. (By the way, how the hell do i tell if it's a modfoldered one?)

Im now un-installing all my RTW and starting over from scratch.

http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=169585 <- as you can see, PatS managed to get all of them into the list and some of them mentioned to be mod switch ( or modfoldered ) versions

Most of the newer mods, and actually all new RTR mods, or such beeing up to date, where the modders are still working on them, are modswitch/modfoldered versions.
