For some reason Macky and I have been experiencing problems with the 'Find' option in Notepad while working on the EU.
Anyone else having similar trouble ?

What exactly?
Lets say you want to find the unit (just as an example) 'Babylonian Horse-archer'. So you put it into the find function but it simply will not find it. However if you look for it manually it will be there. However I was using it the other day and I had no problems but 3 days ago the function didnt seem to like a few units. Im guessing this could be a notepad glitch.

Hmm, I didn“t have any problems with "find" option (I used it for DMB, EDU, EU, EDB).
I have had similiar issues, and sometimes have to check the box 'match case'. Why I don't know. I actually started using a different editor called 'Notepad2' because the Windows Notepad can no longer 'effectively' handle the size of some of these files.

I use PSPad instead of notepad. Notepad, as dvk said, can't cope with the length of the files.
RIP Calvin, you won't be forgotten.
And just how long have you two gentlemen known of this particular issue....????Hmmmmmm?
So I can just copy the EU to PSpad and edit away?

Well, I apologize for not sharing that sooner. I first ran into the issue with EDB.txt, where Windows Notepad (which I used all the time) started having difficulty (lagging, typed characters appearing after a few seconds, deleted or cut stuff taking a few seconds to disappear).....so I sought out a better solution as I knew Notepad had some limitations. I've been using Notepad2 ever since, and so didn't experience the problem with EU or EB.txt because I wasn't dealing with them much before.
I just right clicked a txt file and went into properties and set my 'default' program to open text files to 'Notepad2'. That way every time I click on one it opens with that.

As dvk said, setting it to always open with a different program will do just that. It will open with the other program instead of with notepad, and it can always be set back to notepad if needed (can't think of a reason though.)
RIP Calvin, you won't be forgotten.
Tried both but found PSPad just a tad bloated for my needs. NP2 seems to fit the bill.
Thank you gentlemen.![]()
