    Default Convert me to Anti-Leprechaunism

Since the people around me have always scoffed at the existencce of Leprechauns, I thought of a challenge to pursue a fun activity. I am said to be a "Leprechaunist", and I invite you to convert me to Anti-Leprechaunism. I don't care which denomination of Anti-Leprechaunism do you belong to, whether Elfism or Trollism or Humanism, just convert me to this awesome religion called "Anti-Leprechaunism". You can use any tool you like, you don't even have to appeal to Reason. Point out mistakes, inconsistencies in my notion of Leprechauns, deny the possible existence of the fay, mock the invisibility theory, amuse me with stories where Leprechauns said stupid things, find examples in history where my belief was used to incite hatred / holy wars etc. Tell me about the tale of the Leprechaun Devouring Bear, deny my right to subjective experience of Leprechauns, compare me to Loch Ness Monsterists.

The only restriction is that you have to put some effort into it, f.e. saying "Oh, that's easy. Just quit believing in Leprechauns." will be met with opposition. I am eagerly awaiting this exciting opportunity to finally join the club of the enlightened. Please, I eagerly await your proof of a negative.

Trying to forbid discussion? Typical Anti-Leprechaunist. I encounter this kind of persecution everywhere I go.

Sorry to stack the deck against all you arrogant Anti-Leprechaunists, but here's some evidence for you:

I agree with Avendiel's topic. This is a good effort to show on which people the burden of proof lies. The only source for "ridicule" in this topic comes from the fact that there are more humans believing in god than there are who believe in leprechauns. And the argument from majority is fallacious.

Why do you believe in leprechauns, Avendiel? What convinced you?

Well, for starters, I owe my very livelihood to the sale of a pot of gold I found at the end of a rainbow. I feel as if I have been truly blessed by the wee folk, and I have felt them working in my life ever since, often in mysterious ways.

I could tell you more, but I am often ridiculed (see Tankbuster's post above) when I share my personal, subjective experiences with leprechauns. Some even go so far as to call me a troll, and it hurts me deeply to be associated with such a foul enemy of the leprechaun way. I'll have to see some motions from you of good faith, so that I can feel a bit more comfortable that you can be trusted as a fellow believer. those who haven't had experiences like mine can't be expected to understand.

So you found some gold and that means leprechauns exist?

If I told you that finding cheese meant that leprechauns didn't exist, would you believe crap like that too? Or does it have to come from yourself? (the crap)

So you think it's usual for people to just leave pots of gold in forests near my home? I can tell you it isn't!

Besides, don't oversimplify my position. I didn't just find a pot of gold, I found it at the end of a rainbow. Guess who puts pots of gold at the end of a rainbow? Leprechauns, that's who.

And of course finding cheese doesn't mean leprechauns don't exist. The cheese could easily have been made by elves, and there's nothing contradictory in supposing that elves and leprechauns can exist together.

You're lying. Rainbows don't have 'ends'. If you can't play the game in a way which is a metaphor for religious or other belief then it truly is pointless.

I hope you enjoy the attention you get, kiddo. Farewell.

The end of the rainbow is obviously a metaphor. Do you take everything literally? How crude. You'll obviously never understand the way of the wee folk, nor merit any of their treasures.

This is why you shouldn't make threads like this:

Ho Hum. More mindless Leprechaun bashing from muppet-loving would-be oppressors.

I don't see what your ridiculous link has to do with me, unless you think I'm an atheist. That would indeed be absurd. After all, if God doesn't exist, who made the leprechauns?

The fact that you're trolling here, won't help your case. At least you could have been original instead of copypasting.

Leprechaun = / = God. Did you know that?

    Thread fails.

When did I ever claim that leprechauns are identical to God? God is God, and leprechauns are leprechauns. I don't quite see your point.

Avendiel didn't ever claim that. And I think this is an alright thread. Trolling can't be that much worse than putting up straw men, dodging arguments and ignoring what your opponent has to say can it? Not sure how strict the mods are here, but if they're anything like elsewhere on these forums this thread is soon for the bin...

An awful attempt at a counter-argument. I don't know what's worse, you not seeing the rhetorical exercise behind the leprechaun example or your hypocrisy when it comes to the cultural mythological beings you didn't inherit.
