    Default Need help with siege engine conversion

    I encountered problem while editing siege engines. Im experiencing problems with converting siege engines from ms3d to mesh. This is definitely converter issue, I tested it in various ways and Im sure. Strange thing that I DID managed to convert my custom siege engine before.

    Im using GOAT and meshconverterv1_0_3.py programs, I think I deleted by mistake that working one.

    Can someone help me?

    Say to me what conversion do you do?
    Explain to me your custom siege engine.
    And I tell you where is the problem.
    I am warning in these forums , that an essential problem exists, in the files modifications.
    The modifications must be done in the corresponding file/s and the program must read these file/s or the file/s regenerated by the program.
    Simple question:
    1) What files have you in the MTWII/packs directory?

    Eh its definitely problem with conversion, to test this I took copy of simple catapult from MTW2 and renamed it to catapult_vanilla, then I created new entry in descr_engines and replaced all engine_mesh lines from siege_engines/catapult.mesh to siege_engines/catapult_vanilla.mesh, tested it ingame and it worked without problem. the I converted that catapult_vanilla to ms3d using GOAT and converted it back to mesh right away. I put it in back into game and changed lines in descr_engines to catapult_vanilla_converted, tested and game crash when loading battle.

    Strange thing that I managed to convert my previous custom siege engine:




    Not long ago there was explanation how to add texture to siege engine, but I need to fix my custom animations as the are all wonky.

    The first case, rename the mesh file, you are seeing the same catapult with different name.

    The text editing, of descr_engines.txt is correct, but I advice to you use modified names more similar and with the same number of letters, Ej. catapult.mesh, katapult.mesh, matapult.mesh...

    If the game crash, it is for that the modified mesh file this altered,
    it is possible that are altered or missing the assignments to the bones. It is possible that the hammer - catapult, has the rock fused to the basket of the arm catapult?.

    In this basket there are 3 bones bone_rock , bone_arm , bone_body.
    Attach the file modified to the post, and I test it if it works.
    The texture problem is simple, game are not read the texture. ( does not find her, or not exist , or maybe is delete "comments figure" , meshcoverter 1.3 not incorpored texture dates) .

    Did you even bothered to read my post?

    I stated that I took vanilla catapult converted it to ms3d and converted it back to mesh without even opening it. That converted catapult does not work, UNLIKE my siege hammer (I deleted working file by mistake so I wanted to convert my ms3d again, thatrs how this started), also names does not matter as long as game finds model and stuff.

    Could you give me links to ALL programs that can convert siege engines, I only remembert that working script was standalone.

    Im sorry if I sounded rude, it wasnt my intention, I simply forgot to add wink emote .

    However I thank you vey much, GOAT 1.1 managed to convert my siege engine correctly also I managed to add my own custom texture .

    I should ask more concrete - converted it with GOAT 1.1 for test to ms3d and then back to mesh. Got CTD after adding it to game. Is there another converter?

    IWTE - will convert to .dae (collada) which will import to Blender (and Max if you have the correct Collada plug-in)

    Yes, but depends on the desired result. I think that in order to get a beautyful result, you'd need to use more detailed models.

    For better results I need skilled modeller. Initial idea was to replace cross on Great Cross engine with single model from Myth TW (Briarius made brilliant thralls) which will symbolize defeated faction leader. Such a relic in Bolton manner.
