Mighty archers!

Who may be mightier than deadly parthian horse archers? The answer is simple: foot archers! A lot of them! You can maintain three foot archer units instead of one horse archer unit, because cavalry are extremely expensive in this mod. Yes, HAs have powerful charge, better morale and are able to perform complicated maneuvers on the field, but foot archers always offer superior density of fire, as they have twice more men in one squad, and almost unlimited ammunition.
In my Bactrian campaign, I've just beaten three Free People's fullstacks which have golden veteran elephants, HAs and indian archers, with only one bactrian stack (the losses were very-very insignificant):

As you can see, almost 1/2 of my army сonsisted of foot archers. Phalanx pikemen to protect them from frontal attack, and a few cavalry units to draw enemies attention and to pursue when they run. That combination is nearly unbeatable both defending&attacking!
Archers bring death on numberless arrowheads!

It depends on the experience of archers and the composition of enemy army! If the enemy sends full stacks of heavy-armoured thorakitai or pikemen, green foot archers wouldn't be able to hold them! I had a battle against Seleucid army - all silver/bronze/persian pikemenx, on hills, yet my levy archers run out of ammo before fully destroying them! I'd have been beaten badly if not on hills! But you should not meet that in the whole campaign! (I guess they're new recruits to be assembled with their cav stacks )

Oh and there is a simple method to break this by HA, if you counter AI armies like that - split the army into 2 or 3 groups, pretend to surround the enemy and move the army groups to their flanks and then the rear, and flanks and front, and send generals to pursue (but no fight) their archers ..... Instead of adopting a circle formation, with heavy infantry outside and archers inside, AI generals would simply be confused and his army would collapse under his stupidity!

Archers rule in this mod....i had bosporan archers with that alot exp....they had a 18/19 missile attack.

But you have take these free people without archers hehe

Just used a strategy similar to the one above...

I collected a ragbag of foot archers (10 units) put together with 2 Persian kardakes and a unit of Median Spearmen, two hippeis elaphroi, two hippokonistai, a general and two of the xystophoroi.

Sent 'em off, swatted a Parthian army led by Arsaces himself (my arrows blocked out the sun) and I've reached the Parthian capital. I'm going to sack it, destroy all the buildings, exterminate the populace, and move on to those troublesome Bactrians.

Since i'm in a never ending feud with the free people my main army are archers(only the tolerant ones).
After a while they are so experienced....that you can use them in close combat without many losses.
I have 8 units of HA 4 units of these white archers and 2 with the red clothes(the names are not so tolerant....i just can't remember them).
They are so mighy now that my melee units in that amry uses there spears as shish-kebap,because they are bored when the fighting begins.

I play this mod because of the tolerant archers i get,and because this mod rules.And i'm not though in it...because i sit behind my keyboard,i'm not acually fighting with the bactrians hehe...a big smile on my face
