Harder game

ok i need the hardest challenge there is dont say the rr/rc compilation because i find that easy and its a question of when rather than if including bgr btw hell ive even tryed giving up all my setllements but one and then going on to win and ive done campaigns with every faction early and late this way and it is just repetetive and a case of i wonder which turn i am going to win the game this time so what will make it a question of if rather than when thanks in advanced

Are you quite sure you've played the RR/RC compilation on VH/VH with every faction? By late, do you mean only late campaign? Not the 1300s or 1400s campaign? Eastern Roman Empire during the 1400s campaign on VH/VH.... A nightmare.

yes i mean every campaign there is to try and find the hardest challenge and it is just always a question of when rather than if which is too easy and just repetive

what i want is for someone to tell me the hardest challenge and then for me to provide screenshots of me doing that challenge or nt doing it in which i will be very impressed because i have tryed and tryed to find something which is least a question of if rather than when im going to win. if there was another game that is hard i would be welcome to try that aswell and this is not me bragging this is me trying my best to find a good challenging game or mod preferably on medieval 2

There are certain limits to the engine and what the AI can do in MTW2. Once you get the game mechanics down and if you have much ability to control your armies in the battle map the only real challenge is going to be acting insanely and not in your best interest if you replay battles endlessly and have multiple cheats or use exploits. Not saying you do that... but just most people who have won with every faction on VH without doing those things would have put several hundred hours into the game.

Still if you find BYGs on VH-VH quite easy then you should play Norway and declare war on all your neighbors close together as possible. Danemark, HRE, Novgorod, Scotland, France, England. If you survive and expand in the first 30 turns then not much point to playing MTW2 for a challenge. You need to just role play and handicap yourself.

Two easy things that increase difficulty... no cavalry, fight without family members or auto decide all battles.

The hardest game I've played is BGRIV in the compilation with bgriv ai as Teutons and it's the only one I've played in the compilation so far. You say you have tried all the options yet there are about 30 factions and about 4 ai versions & at least 4 campaigns...30x4x4...that's a lot of campaigns.

I'm interested in whether you allow yourself to reload saves if something bad happens or whether you use stakes or the exploit where you can queue units that you can't afford, such things make losing or reversals pretty impossible if you are any good.

I think you may be right though about "if rather than when" because most AIs will get easier on you as you become less of a threat, which means when you are down to the last settlement things may be fairly peaceful until you begin to expand again. Arguably this is better than losing the campaign (though it's virtually the same thing) because you get that chance to claw your way back to former glory, which is quite rewarding I find.

Of course you could just be the best player in the world and there is nothing we can do for you.

wynny: What is your playstyle? Do you just steamroll the enemy? Perhaps you should try a slower campaign to give the AI a change to build up a bit?

I have another idea: go to the multiplare forum of SS and try a hotseat campaign against humans. That way you'll forget about dumb computer behavior and get a real challenge. IDK if Triforce is avaible but he is one hell of a player. Hope you do find a challenge.

Try doing something different on battlefield as that is where you have the biggest advantage vs AI. Using no cavalry will increase difficulty hugely. No more heroic victories every other battle. Never go anywhere with more than half flag army. Sure you can still send 2 half flags but occasionally they will fail to reinforce etc as well as no generals it makes it much harder. The problem with all games made is the AI is developed to give the average player some fight but not many people keeping playing and buying a game they never win at. So for the expert players if you played 100 hours then most of the challenge gone. At least you got your moneys worth. I'm having fun because I only get into MTW2 two months ago... I'm sure I won't last much over 100 hours but maybe around 100 hours over the next year since I figure I play about 15-20 hours per full campaign little less for short campaigns. Once I've played 5-6 full campaigns starting on dif parts of the map... well maybe dif mods increase the playability but I'm not holding hopes.

Try the RR/RC compilation with Byg lV on VH/VH....no faction is easy anymore:-) and do not forget to download the latest update from Germanicu5's Battle AI.
