    Is there any way I can re-enable the landbridges in midgame?

    You need to copy one RTR PE map file. though I'm not sure actually which file. You can check in the mod section about tutorials regarding maping especially landbridge.

    map_heights.tga from data/world/maps/base is the one related to the landbridges.

    Hmm. It didn't work for me. I used Activision/Rome - Total War/data/world/maps/base/map_heights.tga to replace Activision/Rome - Total War/Imp/data/world/maps/base/map_heights.tga. Is that correct?

    Nope. You should have use RTR PE map_heights.tga instead .. and delete the map.rwm

    I've done it before and it worked. You also have to delete map.rwm
