Default Keys for a strong economy

Hi guys, it's my first post ever on the forum but i've read a lot and it seem a lot of you have issus with economy for couple of faction, including sylvian elve wich i'm now playing VH/VH, Turn 200. I'm first overall and economically. Anyways here"s a couple of advise I never read about economy which could help a lot i think :

    1) LOWER YOUR TAXE, INCREASE YOUR POPULATION ROWTH RATE
Do it from start and your economy will florish at turn 50 or so. Only raise in time of need. Always tax low city you need to growth to continue building(let the city growth until you can build bigger wall, then you can raise taxes). Think long terme : its your population that pay taxes, the more they are, the more you have.

    2) SPECIALISE YOUR CITIES
At the beginning, build farms, roads, markets in must of your cities and build military facilities only in your castle if you have one, or in a central city if not. Then try to build up built up all garison facility in one city, ranged barrack in another and artillery in the last one...later on you will have all money you need to build everything but not now!

3)DO NOT BUILD UP FULL STACK ARMY IF NOT NEEDED.
Try to do best with less. Siege city as long as you can (before reinforcement) before taking em it's much more easy. Use garison and only have more unit incity frontier to the ennemy. Dont auto-resolve battle, you'll loose more troops.

    4)TRADE AGREEMENTS
Yeah we all know that, right...

    5)MOVE YOUR CAPITAL TO CENTER
Dont ask me how, please...It reduce corruption in far away cities.General with hi obedience will do the trick to.

6)DO NOT HIRE TO MANY GENERALs
Tey have hi upkeep so pick the best of the best and skip the others, anyway they will bethray you sooner or later! HA

Thats all i have in mind now, I'm sure you all have your own advice on subject so go on I wanna know!

If I want a good economy I always play Eriador.

But what you said is fairly good strategy for early game.

Taxes are a hit and miss thing. High taxes let you stay in the black early on, as well as to develop your cities. I personally keep my taxes high, the cities will eventually grow to where they need to be.

If you set low taxes to boom growth make sure you can afford to build the bigger walls asap as a settlement with a population to be a bigger town than it is, not turned into a bigger town suffers big time with squalor

You will get way more money later if you have the taxes low in the beginning. At turn 40-60 youll be the richest faction.

Money is worthless later, you need money at the beginning.

Depands. Economy gets alot easier but some campaigns can make money important again.

It's only worthless if you have heaps of it. It can be even turn 756, if you're bankrupt you'll always welcome some benjamins.

It's good that you have realized how to make good economy, but there is really not anything new. There is lots of guides in this forum and you really don't have any new ideas.

If by turn 756 in TATW you haven't achieved total victory, then you are doing it wrong

When you have the taxes below high your generals might gain even more bad traits.

Gain bad trait? All i know is that your ''respect'' will get higher with low tax. Also a general with hi respect give city a growth bonus by .5 % per ''helmet'', that really usefull in castle not growing anymore.

What kind of bad trait youre talking about?

Like what? Bad taxman? Sucks with taxes? What difference does that make on low taxes anyway??

It might. I just wanted to throw that in.

I`m of the opinion that you need money at the beginning. And i (almost) never experienced money problems with the usual "high" from the beginning on. That way i hand`t to deal with bad taxmen either.

Cheating is the key and add_money is the keyhole.

I usually prefer to break the door.

Never set your tax rates below High.... (unless there is no general in the city) because this will cause many bad traits (like bad taxman etc...) that has no going back levels. When your city actually grows to be taxable, you'll gain around 50% less money from taxing them then. Besides, city growth at around 1% is good; it balances out squalor, building time, and all that stuff.
