The Rise Of The Norse A Danish AAR

Rules:

Campaign : Medieval 2: Total War vanilla grand campaign

Faction: Denmark

Difficulty: Hard Hard

Cheating: Y es

Restarts: No

Extra: Now before you say OMG CHEATING THIS AAR SUCKS, I am trying to do something different, the cheating will not directly impact this game it is only there for to make sence with the storyline.

I aim to make this more story orientated so you have to bear with me. I will explain the cheats I use as I use them each time and I will also ask you at certain times to pretend something on the screen is a different thing. Don't worry it will be clear once I use it (I HOPE) I have had this idea in my head about the Danish AAR for a couple of months playing around and I hope you enjoy it and it works out.

Backround: I plan to make this AAR more like the Viking era during the Dark ages and Roman era, so that includes raids, religion, war etc. Now bear with me as I tell the tale of these brave men whole stole money, people, items, and stole the world.

The Rise of The Norse

This is my second attempt at an AAR, my first was had mixed reviews and is sleeping (not dead!) This one I plan to be doing it alot different.

Prologue

Scandinavia, home to thousands of years of war, and power. The Vikings, enemies of some, feared by all. Valhalla, the heaven above, sought by all, granted to few. The Vikings were a strong people, all throughout Scandinavia, They conquered many and stood against everyone. Their wealth was boundless, their culture rich. Until the Christians came.
Scandinavia is now weak, following Harald Bluetooth's embracing christianity on behalf of his nation, all catholic powers supported him into subduing and converting the viking pagans. They are subdued but not defeated. The King now has lost control of north central Europe and Norway, Denmark is weak, although waiting to strike. The King thinks everything is ready though he does not see whats under his noes. All around him are surrounded by pagans, whether they be secret or rebelious, they still believe in the old gods, the powerful gods. With Norwegian tension, and central powers threatening, it is these gods that could bring him and his kingdom down, or it could build and strengthen a new one, a kingdom with the old Viking ways, with new techniques. The Norse gods are calling? and who will answer? The Rise of the Norse has begun!

The Rise of the Norse

Chapter 1

Part 1

Okay guys this update is all story no pictures, actually this update and alot of the next update is pre play time, which is why there are no pictures. anyways, enjoy!

To begin, let us take you back ten years prior to our scene, where this truly all began. You can't really blame Prince Charles, if anything his Dad should be the fault, King Knud. If only he had paid closer attention to who was teaching his son, or if he had made sure all of his political entourage were true catholic believers then the situation may never had arisen, but that is a different matter.

Prince Charles was but a child, yet he was as busy as any adult noble. He studied and practiced; reading, writing, political theory, war theory, and art of battle. He was a good student who learned quickly and it was obvious to those in Antwerp Palace that he was skilled in combat. Everything seemed to be going well, despite his father always being away, trying to beat rebels back, or beg for some help from the other christian nations to beat the pagan rebels. Charles knew none of this, no one told him, all they told him was the King was out doing king business. In truth the information he was being given was controlled by one of the king's chief advisers, who had been with King Knud since his coronation.

Snildan was a bulky Dane, who if you look closely enough could see a sparkle in his eye, He was a sly character, though that was something the king never noticed. The king never took much notice to Snildan. He trusted him, and as long as Snildan gave him good advice he had no reason to get rid of him. So Snildan rose in the rank till he was one of three chief advisers to the king. When Charles was born Snildan offered to lead his upbringing. The King happily agreed as he had more pressing matters to attend to.

So the King never bothered asking Snildan of his child's teachings, after all Snildan was a smart, patient christian who would follow the king's orders to the letter. At least, that was what the king believed. Charles' day was mostly spent with Snildan, who taught him what he needed to know. He taught him about different battle strategies, different units in neighboring countries and how to use the enemy's tactic against them. He was also taught about old viking traditions, and warfare. Although if anyone had inquired about Charles teaching they would be surprised to find, that no religion what so ever was included in his studies. Something very odd indeed.

On Charles' seventh birthday a change was observed in Snildan. He no longer acted quiet and shy, but was more outspoken and forceful at the adviser's table. Back at Charles' lessons, Snildan began to tell Charles stories about the old times. Back when The Norse ruled Scandinavia, united as one, most threatening kingdom of its time. He told Charles of great battles won and fought in the name of faith. Charles was blown away, and for the rest of his teachings he was told about the Norse and their conquests, more importantly he was told about the religion, a faith of multiple Gods, not just one. Gods of power and victory, gods of war and honor not peace and forgiveness. Snildan told Charles all about the Norse mythology and Charles believed. He believed it all. It seems so mystical and strong we was pulled in.

On Charles' sixteenth birthday Snildan pulled him aside and told him of what his father had done when Charles was but a child. How he constantly went to the "white Christ" worshipers asking for help to tame those who believed in the old gods, the new gods. Snildan revealed to Charles that him and many others in Antwerp still believed in the old gods, but chose to hide it, and wait and plan until there time came to reclaim all of Scandinavia and reunite the old faith away from the christian oppressors. Snildan told him of his village when he was a child, how the King of the time came in and burned the place and its people for believing. Snildan's life was ruined, everything gone all because of what the Christians had done. It was then, at that night that Charles converted, back to the old faith with the old gods. He did it secretly and agreed that when the time was right they would rise up and reclaim Scadinavia, and here is where our story begins.
