Factions, well It looks like you barely gave Scythia any land and the Roman empire is missing a province in Gual.

    My idea:
    Roman Faction of course
    Roman Rebel Faction
    2 British Factions
    4 Germans
    Armenia
    Parthia
    Arab Tribes

I had started on the map, but I like the one Aenima has made. Aside from some factions removed the locations seem great.

I have named Rome S.P.Q.R, I remember from my history classes that they still used the old Republican name. I also want to keep the senate. It would be fun to have them, since they did exist for a while, even if not with much power. The Senate still had some persuassion.

I also thought of incorporating a script that will spawn a german army in the teutoberg forest. ) What do you guys think?

The senate is not needed to hog one of the few slots we do have, but what we can do is give generals the trait senator, and give them different senate ranks and such

That's some awesome work CJM, looks fantastic!

To 10th, the reason a chunk of land in Gaul isn't part of Rome is that, as the other map shows, at the time it was the Cottii Kingdom, an independent state that didn't become absorbed by Rome until 64 AD. Source. Perhaps put a rebel Roman city there to represent the autonomy of the region?
Agree with your faction list, like I said mine was just to show some of the major tribes that could be included, and that governor thing looks awesome, reminds me of M2TW.

@ CJM: great job, I was wondering if you could make it so that the danube and rhine rivers are navigble. This would A. make it a barrier. B. more trade along the river. Actually if you set the German win conditions in Roman land, they will attempt naval invasions, its hardcoded I think. Also is the settlement list finished? If it is then can you give it to me so I can start on the govenor ancillaries thing.

@Aenima, good work. I don't think we should make it rebel, but I want to implement a Client Kingdom feature, aka client trait. This would help in Africa so we don't waste faction slots to Numidia and Mauretina. We keep the Mauretian king, and give him the client kingdom trait. I think the loyalty would be like -2, but it would give a +10 trading bonus, and -2 squalor as its his homeland.

@both; I am implementing a trait system that has New to Power for the emperors, expierienced emperor, and old emperor. The new emperor trait means that all the other generals in the empire have a -3 loyalty trait, because the emperor is young and weak. Old emperor may lead to the "Heavy Burden" trait which makes the emperor lose influence and managment, like Tiberius.

    10th,

Have you thought of implementing a different time-frame? As it is, the Empire in 1AD will utterly destroy everything in its path to the point of complete ridiculousness and non-fun. The super-state that Augustus ruled at this point was politically stable, militarily powerful, and respected and feared by Germani and Easterners alike.

Still, if you're committed to starting in 1AD, I'd be glad to help with research and advice.

First off, since you only have 14 factions, we've got some room to add new ones. Why not Commagene? Hellenistic Armenian kingdom, not extinguished until 72AD. Easy opportunity to include some Greek units.

Cappadocia would be another cool idea for a minor state in Asia Minor, not absorbed until 17AD.

The Nabataean Kingdom centered on Petra is feasible; was around till 100AD-ish, I believe (correct me if I'm wrong).

Hope this has helped a bit.

I can do text-editing for you, as well as faction and unit descriptions. Best of luck!

Thank you for your thoughts. I think we are still commited though and we will implement some features that make it harder for the Romans. I really want the Romans outnumbered at all times, so Im thinking that we should make the game tailored for a Roman legion to have 1 first cohort 4 regular cohorts 2 cavalry 2 auxilia infantry and 2 light infantry and a general.

What would your total faction list be though? Im curious, Im wanting more than one Germanic, British, and Scythian tribes but other than that I would love to see which ones we could fit.

    Faction List

    1-Imperium Romanum
    2-Roman Rebels
    3-Mauretanian Kingdom
    4-Nabataean Kingdom
    5-Parthian Empire
    6-Armenian Kingdom
    7-Kingdom of Dacia
    8-Boii Tribe (Northeast of Noricum)
    9-Cherusci (Ariminus ahoy!)
10-Angli/Cimbri (whichever, just a faction in Denmark)
    11-Brigantes
    12-Iceni
13-Kingdom of Commagene/Osroene, either works or combine them (Hellenistic/Persian influences)
14-Kingdom of Cappadocia (Same as above)
    15-Guptus Empire (India)
16-Kingdom of the Bosporus (Pontic remnant, another Hellenistic faction)
    17-Sarmatians
    18-Frisians
    19-Kingdom of Atropatene
20-Saka? (Unsure of their location at this point)
    21-Rebels

That would be ideal for this period, I think. Nice layout of barbarian tribes all along the Roman Rhenus frontier, as well as the Danube. Eastern Hellenistic kingdoms/Nabataea are in the thrall of Rome; perhaps a script spawning a Roman legion to free the kingdom if Parthia invades and conquers one of them?

The Guptus Empire could provide an eastern rival for Parthia, and would itself be countered by the Saka to the north.

The Bosporan kingdom would have control of rich trade routes with Rome (and would also be a client state at start) but would have to fend off the Sarmatians.

The barbarians could either squabble amongst themselves or unite and face Rome; either way, Rome will be in fear of these. Give them at least 1 full stack at start, maybe more; surround them with hyperstrong rebels to simulate other, non-included tribes.

The two Brittanic factions will either battle it out and simulate the divisions Claudius encountered when he invaded Britain, or one will prevail and present a great challenge to any invader.

Mauretania would start in a precarious position, in the complete thrall of Rome and militarily weak. However, the Romans would be hard-pressed by Germani to the north and the Parthians to the east, and will maybe withdraw a few legions. In any case, perhaps a shrewd king will be able to take advantage of internal strife and outside threats to create a powerful rival to Rome, a veritable new Qart-Hadast.

And of course, Parthia is the hyperpowerful Imperial rival to Rome in the east. It will have a client kingdom of its own: Media-Atropatene, on the Caspian Sea. This faction could compete with Armenia for control of the Carpathians; While Armenia is watching and fearing Rome, Atropatene is watching and fearing Parthia.

I think it's a nice layout that presents a decent mix of cultures, units, and balance.

(An AOR system would greatly reduce the number of unique units needed for Germanic and Eastern/Greek factions alike)

    Hope this helps!

EDIT: Great work on the map! That's beautiful work!
