    Nice map.

But sadly we cant fit all that.

We are already at 199 regions i believe, and there are infighting in the mod concerning a few regions that some want to have as regions and not psf's and vice versa.
Scandinaia is not one of those places.

Your map has 16 regions in scandinavia, whilst the mod has 12.
    Kongshalla, Kalmar, Vyborg are PSF's.
Slesvig is a psf, and that red dot there is the main settlement, but can probably change it if you think it is more historical. I havent set the regions, so Res and Hross will have to come here.

Never heard of Frösön, but might be something to add in the mod, but that area is far to insignificant to be worth its own region.

    Thank you.

Oh haha and I really tried to restrain my self! Well you can't always get all you want.

When the danish tradecente of hedeby was burned down by the Norwegian King Harald Hardrule in 1050, the population was moved to Slesvig. It soon grew and became one of the tradecenters of the danish realm. However it was no more or less important than Ribe (the red dot) at the time of the mod. It was first untill the 15th century it became a fairly strong powerhouse together with Holstein.

Never heard of Frösön, but might be something to add in the mod, but that area is far to insignificant to be worth its own region.

Frösön was thought to be the "capital" of Jemtland at the time of the mod. It was a remote realm and mostly self governed. King Haakon V considered it as the eastern realm of Norway - though it never fully became an integrated part of Norway. The Jemts should at various times had paid tribute to the Kings of Norway. And since the rest of Norrland first untill much later became colonised - I allowed Jemtland (Frösön) to also represent the whole area of Norrland. Also the Sami tribes were known to have traded and paid tribute to the Crown of Norway - so maybe the region should belong to Norway, although it was never a fully intergrated part of the Kingdom.

    Thank you.

I'll change the main settlement to Slesvig and have Ribe as the port.

You seem to know your history.
Maybe you would want to join as an historian?
I believe Hross would welcome you.

Just looked at your maps, which look excellent. But, I think you have forgotten a minor detail regarding Iceland, and though I am no mapper, I suspect my proposed correction is quite a simple, and not a timeconsuming task.

I noticed there are forests on Iceland in your maps, I suggest removing them as there are no forests in Iceland. Would be rather silly fighting a rebel Islandic army as Norway in a forest if you get my point.

There are now forests, just few scattered trees. Afaik in Iceland are some trees and without them Iceland looked a bit empty... But if you believe Iceland should have no trees at all, I could remove them of course.

Iceland did have trees in the Middle Ages, they were all overforested which is why there are no trees now.

Became a bit skeptical to my comments myself for some reason and double checked. Indeed, there seems to have been birchwoods in southern Iceland, one lives and learns I guess.

Absolutely, Iceland went through a very tough period because deforestation led to serious erosion. I'm glad you guys have looked into these sorts of issues. Basing the map on the current state of forestation throughout Europe would be far from accurate.

EDIT: I just looked through some reference material I have on the subject and discovered that 25% of Iceland's land area was once covered in forest (predominately birch). The central highlands were never really forested; it was mostly along the southern coast. According to Ari the Wise writing in about 1130 (Íslendingabók), the forest stretched from the mountains to the sea. Studies based on both pollen counts and the radio carbon dating have corroborated this description.

    Hi,

I think that map should have the SS6.1 map range without Island and such huge terrain of Sahara.

    "And now something completely different":
Map of Poland. In most mods are wrongly portrayed. So I want to show You correct map and city location:

    http://gdn.republika.pl/polska/m-h02a.htm

Major cities - region / localisation date / population

    Krakow - Lesser Poland / VIII,IX c. / 12.000 in 1340
    http://pl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Krak%C3%B3w

Poznan - Great Poland / VIII c. / very similar to Krakov in XI c. (90%)
    http://pl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pozna%C5%84

    Wroclaw - Silesia / VIII c. / probably 70% of Krakow
    http://pl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wroc%C5%82aw

    Gdansk - Pomerania / VII c. / 60-70% of Krakow
    http://pl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gda%C5%84sk

    Sandomierz - Sandomierz / X c. / 20-30% of Krakow
    http://pl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sandomierz

    Szczecin - West Pomerania / IX c. / 20-30% of Krakow
    http://pl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Szczecin

    Plock - Masovia / IX c. / 1500 in XI c. / 20% of Krakow
    http://pl.wikipedia.org/wiki/P%C5%82ock

    Major rivers:

    Vistula (Krakow, Sandomierz, Plock, Gdansk)
    Warta (Poznan)
    Odra (Wroclaw, Szczecin)

First Polish lands was between the Oder and the Vistula river. Ekspansion to the East start after Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth in XIV-XV c.

    Phisical map:

    Historical regions:
    http://gdn.republika.pl/polska/m-h03a.htm

I have one question. Will You include lakes on the battle map? There is lot of regions in Europe with high density of small lakes or swamps (Finland, North East Poland, Belarus...) This will be much more strategic to fight betwen lakes and forests on the battle map.

Then it would be SS and not DotS. Believe me, you will be glad we made our map our way, when you see it. Proof of this will be seen in the forthcoming preview, released June 8th

First of all, Great map! I'm not a guy who's looking for details in a map I really like the adding of scandinavia/iceland and a little bigger afrika was a great idea.
I only mis a bit of the americas, it would be nice to invade there and get invaded from there in europe(it didn't happend for real but it is nice for the gameplay)
    Keep up the good work.

June 8?! Awesome! I like the decision to go northwest and South with the map instead of SS's extra eastern territory, friggin' Mongols!

Personally, I still think that north western and southern map is waste of area.
I believe that it should confine itself to the Europe and west of Asia.

    Dear HROSS,

Do You want to show as Rest of European map? Is there already citys, rivers, mountains, forests? Please tell us more. We can not wait any longer!
