    got a question, I downloaded stainless steel RR/RC and decided to mod the unit's stat, desc_mount and desc_character files, without using the unpacker
    so now I got a CTD in campaign battle.

    My question is, now that I have the unpacker, do I just need to unpack all and everything is fine or do I have to reinstall Medieval 2, unpack all, then install SS RR/RC then mod stuff?

    You don't need to unpack the game for modding.
    So my advice would be to reinstall SS RR/RC and then mod stuff.
    Basically i used the unpacker only once and saved all the files as a backup of original files and reinstalled to packed version. and started modding from level 1 on bare kingdoms mod.
    I find my way less messy.
    The CTD is only coz you might have done something wrong while modding.

    Hello again... lol... i'm having another problem adding units. This time, the textures are coming out all funky. Like... some units that i add look like strips of paper wrapped around an invisible man, and some units look like polished metal men.... what is the problem?

    I am not very good with model aspects, maybe you should post this question in the models forum.

    The paper strip thingy reminds me of the mess I once made when assigning vertices to the skeleton. But having 'silver surfers' is definitely a missing texture - maybe wrong spelling?

    I think the problem lies in the BMDB don't u have to place a 3 faction i.e. merc for it. Otherwise when Denmark recruits this mercenary unit it will appear silver.

    well I fixed that but now the game is crashing while loading a custom battle, so i can test if the unit WORKS or not.. URGGGH

    the bmdb and edu are non modified but when unspecified error came up i couldn't launch kingdoms or mtw2 so i uninstalled and re-installed the game has any 1 else had these problems?

    Also why u have posted non modified entries???
    Post the modified ones so we can pin point the problems. Also ur EDU entries are posted fine but not BMDB are incomplete.

    I am having a similar problem to many, but of a different sort. I am trying to switch around the models for Italian Cavalry Militia (ug0 with brigandine armor like Polish Retainers and ug1 with the heavy mail original look). The switch is for the vanilla retrofit mod. I have created Brigandine skins for the Papal States and Sicily, and changed the mesh to that of the polish retainer, and edited the modeldb file accordingly, but when I load the game, the original, unchanged models and skins appear. Since these were changed on the vanilla modeldb file and the old versions have been changed (to my limited knowledge) completely, I'm not sure how that could happen. I have added the [io] file first=true to the .cfg file (on read only), but the problem persists. I have managed to change other models and skins before this, so I'm frankly stumped.
