Boromir VS Faramir

Simple question, who do you like more, Boromir or Faramir?

I love Faramirs character. All he ever wanted to do was make his father proud despite his Fathers disgust towards him. I realy felt bad for him in the movies. He tryd his hardest to make his father proud to the point of suicidely charging Osgiliath and never got anything in return. Faramir number 2 on my fav character list right under Theoden.

heh,he was a good warrior and natural leader,yes,but the recapture of Osgiliath was also due to Denethor's strategy...he was not a *** freak shown in the movies,but a really good Steward

anybody who likes faramir more has not read enough tolkien. boromir's a total badass and theres no denying his total badassness. boromir wins hands down. denethor was always dissapointed with faramir because his efforts were $h17 compared to boromirs badass victories. did i mention boromir is a badass and a fan-freaking-tastic warrior?

Thats your opinion. I think some characters are more interesting and "better" then other because they arent badass. Faramir was "badass" in his ability to resist the ring knowing what he could do with it, like impress his father. Yet he let it go. You may argue that Boromir only wanted the ring for Gondor but everyone knows that Boromir would have taken it for himself. Funny thing is it seemed the "Weaker" where able to resist the ring better then the "Stronger". Tom Bombadil is a exception along with Gandalf...and Galadriel.

This makes faramir just even more awesome.

With the ring he could have shown his father how able he truly is. He could have taken it to show what a good son he is. Still he refused to take the ring.

And he was an badass commander, too.

I haven't finnished reading the books yet, but form the movies, I like Faramir more. Boromir was a strong personality and most of all he understood his mistakes and even gave his life defending the hobitts. But Faramir will always be in my mind as a galant warrior, not recognized by his father, but still a well-meaning warrior. He gave his life away to prove his quality... although in my mind his quality was already proven when he let Frodo go. Too bad his father couldn't see it...
