[HoI3] Hearts of Iron 3 Pre-order bonuses.

So apparently various sites and retailers and throwing in bonuses for those who pre-order the game. For any that are interested http://pc.ign.com/articles/100/1007147p1.html has a brief article on it.

The only two sites I've seen that offer anything have been Gamersgate which offers a bunch more American and German sprites and Impulse which gives a free copy of Hearts of Iron 2 but Paradox has said almost every location with a some sort of different pre order bonus.

Sadly though it looks like they may be going the DLC route, charging a few bucks for small little aesthetic touches to the game such as sprites and music packs. Since it is Paradox I'm going to wait and see what is delivered and what the price tag will be before I get to critical but I'm hoping they don't pull a CA or repeat the Horse Armor incident.

we'll see how they pull it, however I have faith in paradox to not

its customers around, unlike CA it listens to its fans.

I assume their DLC will be worthwhile. I assume well until proven otherwise with paradox.

Well I just wonder what type of worth while DLC you can put in a game like HoI3. The Sprite packs are a given, Johan and Fredrick have said those will be DLC since they weren't able to get them done in time for the games release and that just seems somewhat of a low blow, though I've got no problem letting Paradox slide once or twice due to all they've done for and with the community. I just hope they don't go on releasing little things like a ton of sprite packs or battle scenarios and charge a few bucks for them which have been discussed on the forums over there. Like you guys said, I'll wait and see exactly what pops up before I make any critical judgment though.

Impulse is giving a free copy of Hearts of Iron 2 with the preorder, Steam and Direct 2 Drive haven't revealed there's as far as I know though rumors for Steam are a Soviet and Japanese Sprite pack.

I can accept scenarios if its like those regional conflict scenarios they had in HOi2 and the DLC for it includes a few of them.

The Sprite Pack includes sixteen new sprites for use when playing with either the German or American armies. The new sprites consist of a combination of airplanes, tanks and ships.

Heats of Iron III will be released on August 7, 2009.

The Hearts of Iron series are the best games Paradox has out there. Hearts of Iron 2 was one of the best grand strategy games to ever come out and it looks like they went and vastly improved the game for HoI 3.

For a quick description of the game you can check this page out here. http://www.gamersgate.com/DD-HOI3/hearts-of-iron-3 it gives you a quick overview on what the game is like but doesn't really do it justice. To sum it up though if you have any love for grand strategy games then yes it is defiantly worth getting.

Man, did anyone else catch the requirements for the game over at paradox's site. I can cover it fine, but it certainly isn't the typical low resource game paradox usually releases.

Oh, don't get me wrong. I'm happy they are pushing it a little more than usual. I have a system comparable to Kanaric except I have a single 295. I'm just surprised and I'm assuming those are the minimum specs.

Yeah the move to the 3D engine, the enhanced AI, and the addition of about 10,000 extra provinces to the game really forced the specs to make a hard climb. Still though for today's standards they really aren't all that high and it's good to see Paradox taking more advantage of the technology that's out there today. HoI 3 looks like it'll be the best thing they've made it a long time.
