    Default Adding units to a faction- battle CTD's

    Hey guys !

    Ive recently been trying to make my own, personal modification to LT's great SPQR mod (wont release). In said mod, the romans have been divided into 3 factions, "The Romans" "SPQR (senate)" and "Rebels". My goal is to try and take units from "The Romans" and make them playable for "SPQR (will hitherto call this faction the senate, since the code does )".

    Now, i have indeed used the search function, and i went through the files carefully. I saw that the "senate" had its own texture for many roman units that the faction did not use. Hence, i thought it would be a neat idea to try and get them into the game, to fill out the faction without touching the already maxed out EDU space.

    At first i just tried to make siege engines work, and to my delight they did, i figure thats because the "senate" faction had its own version of the crew-men working already.

    After that i thought "hey, if that worked, infantry must too !" So i merrily went about adding "romans_senate" to the end of unit ownership lines in the EDU, i cant see where I've gone awry, but i have.

    For some reason battles always crash when loading the newly allocated faction units. I'm at an impasse, i just cant figure it out. It seems that the game only crashes when i try to load those units into a battle, so i figure it must be something to do with "descr_model_battle".

    The loading will go fine, but once the bar reaches about half way (50%) the game CTD's. No error.

    However, when i check out that file, i get this:

    I don't understand ! the triarii model itself works fine, i didn't touch that, and it loads in battles with one of its default factions just fine ! So it must be the textures, but I've checked those, and they don't have any problems, what am i doing wrong ?

    All the units i want to add have appropriate descr_model_battle sections, much like this, as well as text information, unit descriptions, heck even unit cards ! I didn't have this problem in medieval 2... so whats the problem ?

    I have a decent computer, enough to run the game well. Crashes happen irregularly during play, and are usually caused by some foolishness on my part (running windows media player during battle... bad idea) and generally speaking its more my monitor anyway that goes down, not the game (weird i know, but that's not the point).

    Can anyone help me out here ? I'm at my whit's end here I'm afraid. Rome Total War just seems to hate me these days (or perhaps I've lost "the touch" lol).

    Well i found out what the problem was, thanks to my fixing the command line "showerr" to "show_err", thus pointing me towards a missing standard bearer texture, which i rectified...

    So yeah, problem solved !

    *awaits the huge out-pour of "DURRRR" from the forums *
