Hey guys quick question

Um, im in love with this game and been shopping for mods now, im looking at this one but just have a question before I use it.

I was planning on getting two mods in general, Ultimate AI, and Retrofit mod and the Correct Historic Names mod. The AI is to dumb for me, and I liked the idea of forts and stuff being added to the main epic campaign. Im just wondering if Stainless Steel does the same? I read over the features but it got a bit overwhelming, I saw some AI improvements but got a bit confused after that.


Also is there any huge map mods out there too? Ones that do the whole world maybe? I think it would be interesting to be battleing it out in European countries while in america the native tribes battle for top place and we all meet in late game. Is that possible?

SS does include better AI. If you want even better AI though, check the submods forum. You'll find some great AIs there (Germanicus5' and Savage's being two that come to mind)

Not really because there are hardcoded limits to how big the map can be and how many regions/settlements there can be. There are also limits on the number of factions and units you can have so you wouldn't be able to include all the peoples you'd need to have a world wide map.

SS5.1 spans from the Mississippi to the Red Sea I believe, and from Sub-Sahara to the Isle of Man. That's about as big a bi-continental map you're going to get.

SS6.1 on the other hand is a far larger map, but is strictly Europe/Middle East. It pushes far east and even more south.

If you want merely a map mod, check out the Extended Americas mod, or give 5.1 a try, as it is slightly more like vanilla than 6.1. Smaller map less scripts etc.,

the mod 'total war eras/conquest' not sure which has an era in it that uses the whole world. it is a bit of a problem for it that the map has a size limit so it is a bit squashed though. its also set in the late era.

If you are sick of the vanilla map, Stainless Steel 6.1 offers a huge european map with many more provinces. The Broken Cresent Mod adds a new middle eastern map, with an eastern feel, and differant eastern factions. The Deus Lo Vult Mod has a diffeant european map too, that you could try out if you are interested in roleplaying.
