He has been on a role since he had his 3 week break. Last week was his coming back and his new rules last week was alittle better then this weeks.

its so easy to mock lol, but we don't need people doing that right now.

I'm a free-market advocate--where it works, and I have this debate with others, that the free-market just doesn't belong in certain spheres. Health-care is one of them.
Maher's been on a roll with his take on Obama ("this is not what I voted for") and he's been good since. Very poignant. Great find.

Maher believes in eastern medicine, nuff said.
Sure I've been called a xenophobe, but the truth is Im not. I honestly feel that America is the best country and all other countries aren't as good. That used to be called patriotism.
And I agree with everything he said there. 80% of Americans health problems are life style related. Most people rather sit back and flip in the T.V. then head outside a jog a mile or flip on the XBox instead of hitting the gym for an hour. Most people rather head over to McDonald's and order a extra large #2 with a coke instead of getting a salad or chicken sandwitch with some water. These things are the results of a lot of the current health problems and yet in stead of attacking the problem at the source, the seditary lifestyles and the poor diet, instead we offer diet pills, energy drinks, and all these wonder drugs for this and that.
A lot of people don't like the idea of loading their bodies up with this chemicals and poisons, I'm one of them. If I got a headache or muscle sore then yeah I'll take an Advil or something but for the most part I just maintain a healthy lifestyle and it's amazing how little I get sick or hurt compared to a lot of other people I know. Some people prefer to take drugs for their problems, I know a few people who take around 10 different types of medications a day for various things such as depression, sleeping, anxiety, appeititate, ect. I compare people like those to people like me and from what I've seen I live a much healthier life then they. If someone rather looks towards perscrptions for their problems then changing their lifestyle then fine, I've got no problem with that. After all it's your body not mine.
Admittedly I don't know a whole lot about Maher other then he is a much more liberal version of Jon Stewart meaning a comedian entering the realms of political chatter and such. Being anti-immunization is a joke no question about that. Hypocritical, eh I don't know enough about him to make that call. The reason I spoke up the way I did is because there is no reason that someone should be held at a lower standard because they believe in things such as alternative medicines or the far east treatments. Again if it makes someone feel better about themselves then why not, something that doesn't work for you doesn't mean it doesn't work for someone else even if it's only in their minds. I just find it funny that people mock or degrade someone because they do something that isn't considered mainstream.

Well thats why some of us look down on him because HE does exactly that with religious people for example but yet he isnt exactly any different. He goes beyond eastern medicine which imo is fine but he pushes it to limits that western medicine is "killing" people, that immunization is wrong etc but yet millions upon millions of people would have died if not for "western" immunization. So its funny to see him attack people for belief god create the world with no evidence to back it up when he preaches a similar ignorant pov. So issue isnt eastern medicine being bad or good but rather Mahler's specific views on it that are extremist in nature.
Alternative medicine that can be established as having a real benfit to well being of a sick person should openly be embraced, the problem is some people are delusional in believing any and every alternative method works or that it is by default better then western. The proof is in the pudding so to speak, if a treatment can be established by fact help to people then it is a "good" treatment, western, eastern whatever. Mahler evidently finds no need for such details. Its why Mahler talking about medicine is akin to Pat Robertson talking about homosexuality.
If Mahler had his way polio would still be around since he is anti immunization he of course does this while openly mocking things like ID when both are equally stupid and have little basis in facts or science. He also maintains flu shots causes AlzheimerHe is a hypocrite and its funny that he would be selling the idea that health care shouldnt be for profit when he rejects basic things like immunization. Im amazed anyone takes this guy seriously, he is friends with Ann Coutler and people who love Mahler hate her but yet they arent too far away from each other beyond content of what they say.

I love Bill Maher, I've been following him religulously ()since about 2005. I actually haven't seen the film. But I disagree with him hugely in issues like religion's role in people's lives, and some Western medicine.
He is however right about what makes Westerners sick. Look at our food. Look at fast food. Look at junk food. These things are new to the human species and not very healthy. It is a bit like "you are what you eat". He's wrong about Western medicine's role in our lives, but he's absolutely right with the cause of the problems, just not it's solution.
So cut him a little slack and you'd see he's very smart. He's not Jesus perfect, but no pundit is. So let's praise him for what he gets right, and constructively rip him apart about what he gets wrong, instead of throwing him out altogether.
Capice?

He's agnostic, and he never claims infallibility. He claims the opposite. He's said opinions change, which is true.
An unchanging opinion is the mark of an idiot.
EDIT:
In the last show I think it was, he said it was his job to hold the President's feet to the fire. That is a definite difference between him and Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert; he actually thinks he holds journalistic integrity. But of course he's just notting around. Colbert and Stewart hold integrity in their (albeit satirical) pursuit of journalistic truth. Maher just doesn't hide it.
A good question I'd put to him would be why not have Stewart on his show. Those three are the Troika of contemporary political comedy.

Maher on the same level as Stewart and Colbert?
That is quite amusing. The USA really must have fallen off the past few years if the rejected host of Politically Incorrect actually has influence on the masses.
The thing about Bill Maher is that he does not seem to realize he is an entertainer and a showman. His takes on issues are just as shallow and ignorant as anyone in the entertaining political media except he actually takes himself seriously.
BTW anyone who is a fan of Maher or thinks he is anything but a TV entertainer phony scavenging for ratings however he can get them should just look up what he said in the week following 9/11/01.

It's hard to argue a bullet-proof thesis of Maher being rejected and being a shallow entertainer...
Yet if I had to, he wasn't rejected. His show was dropped because he said something politically incorrect. That it wasn't cowardly to remain in the plane while it crashes into a building.
The government told people to watch what they said. And not even about STATE SECRETS! Just regular, the public and the media were indicated to either got on board or STFU. Maher was eventually picked up by HBO, and now he can swear.
Speaking of ratings. HBO doesn't work like that, thank God. That's why HBO gets away with things like the Sopranos and Big Love and True Blood and Six Feet Under.

One biggest problem with private health care is the paperwork. So what is the solution for this so doctors can focus more to their patients like in countries with Universal Health Care and centralized data?
