Try running it as administrator. That's the first thing I'd do.

Or try to disable the Vista's file protection thing. Sorry I don't know it's exact name.

After having troubles with EB1.1 I uninstalled EB and the RTW worked fine. I can trying reinstalling completely after the weekend. I have the RTW files installed under User/documents and I am the administrator, I avoided the program files because I heard of all the problems that caused. Ironically I have had EB1.1 up and running fine before, it's just been some time and I coming back to it...or hoping to at least!

It must be something I'm doing. I install EB into the RTW main folder. example User/Documents/Rometotalwar/EB Documents. If that's fine am I missing something else? Do I need to delete a certain folder first or move the EB files to another location? Sorry Apázlinemjó Im not familiar with a vista file protection, somewhat computer illiterate

Open up Control Panel, and type in “UAC” into the search box. You’ll see a link for “Turn User Account Control (UAC) on or off”
On the next screen you should uncheck the box for “Use User Account Control (UAC)”, and then click on the OK button.
You’ll need to reboot your computer before the changes take effect, but you should be all done with annoying prompts.

If that doesnt work make sure your game isnt installed in the program files, or documents, as vista protects files within those borders and rarely makes exceptions for mods.

i turned off the UAC, ive reinstalled RTW, ive made sure its outside of the Program Files, ive even made sure RTW works fine with out EB (which it does) but as soon as i install EB into the main RTW folder things stop working! i can start the EB Single Player just fine. it loads up the main menu and i can click on the main campaign but once i choose a faction and press start it freezes and a pop up menu appears talking about a "Protection Error"? im at a loss, ive had this working before, maybe a year ago. but i dont seem to get the bugger to work now!?!

It might be possible that you are running a virtual drive (dont know for sure)... most possibly that you registry is kapoot or overloaded, in other words clean it, or worst off all happened to me, a virus is screwing with your command and makes certain files inaccessible. Too fix it for me was too by a new stick off RAM. this is extremely rare but it is most likely too happen at one point.
