    Default Upgrading

hi I am looking to upgrade my PC As quite frankly its not to good.
    Processor: Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.00GHz
    Memory: 512MB RAM
    GeForce2 Ti
    Motherboard Intel D845HV

Its a miracle it still runs rome total war and call of duty. But it came unstuck today when i tried to play battlefield 2 demo and it just kept crashing to the desktop

I want to upgrade the graphics card but have limited funds and havent got a clue about this kind of thing and about what i really need. I dont know whether any of the top end graphics cards will even work. If anymore spec info is needed i will try and find it

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Cheers

If you want to play battlefield 2, it is extremely video card dependant. I would say however much money you have, spend most of it on the video card, and then maybe get another stick of RAM.
Good video cards for playing bf2 begin with the 9800Pro/6600GT level, don't get anything lower than that, though a 9600XT might just cut it. I recommend going for at least an X800XL if you have 280$ to spare

I wouldn't bother upgrading your computer. Any type of upgrade would just be a waste. If you get a more powerful video card you won't notice much of a performance boost because your CPU will create a bottleneck. And to run BF2 I would assume it would require some powerful hardware so you would need to upgrade a lot of things. If you wanted a better CPU you would need a new mobo, and then your video card would be creating a bottleneck and it would just be a mess.

If I were you I would wait until I could build an entire new system or buy pre-made, whichever you prefer.

    Hope this helps.

Battlefield 2 isn't very CPU demanding, it's almost exclusively in the Video card. Video cards are more powerful than CPUs these days, most CPUs can handle most games very well, except for massive RTSs like RTW. FPSs really aren't very CPU demanding
