Mass_fire

I am posting this because I see people here and there asking about how to make a unit mass fire then fire at will without really using mass_fire ability which if you do use this they will mass_fire but the fire drill makes your troops spread out Which i dont like.

Most light infantry fire like this and it took me sometime to figure this out on my own and im not saying im the only person that knows how to do this im just trying to be helpful to those that dont

what causes some units to mass_fire and then fire at will...take away the units class firing drills in the unit_to_class_abilities excepte fire_volley then in the units_stats_land in the column unit can skirmish this must be set to True now your unit should fire with mass_fire then fire at will.. Also dont forget to delete all rank_fire and platoon_fire drills from the specific unit in the unit_to_unit_abilities.

How about the bug about hiding behind the short stone walls on the battlefield and the regulars and militia and only shooting one soldier shooting once or twice every minute. Any fix for that my friend? This bug ruins my experience on the battlefield because these walls make great for defense. Thank you.

I just noticed that the other day. I had never had a problem with walls before and then all of a sudden none of my walled units wanted to fire!
i had to take them out from cover to get them to shoot, and like you said, when they were on the wall only one soldier was shooting

Best way to overcome the wall issue is to line your infantry up behind the wall standing as they would in the open field (ie no using the take cover indicator).
This way they all fire as normal and still get a fair bit of protection from the wall without sitting there licking their elbows whilst the odd bloke braves the enemy to fire a shot every 5 minutes.

I have noticed that my infantry when crouched behind a wall will often fire in order down the line Like some elite troops do when using platoon fire.

I wouldnt call myself a modder I am just someone who messes around with the settings and things to see what I can do and figure out I might try to look into the wall issue but I cant promise anything.
