Faction Leader - wrong culture!

In my recent Seleucid campaign I picked my best general to be my faction heir. When the old leader died I realized my mistake - the new leader had the trait "Of the Old Persian Ways" or something like that, giving a fair amount of unrest to all of my cities (they are all western civ now). I don't want to kill him off because he is a good general. Live and learn.

Look like your faction leader isn't greek or at least western civilized peoples. So this will quite a problem to rule greek subject. He maybe a babylonian or persian. How you get hem?

I don't recall how he came into my family. However, many of my best family members have an eastern base. I suppose this makes sense as I am playing Seleucia. I don't believe he was adopted, I will check next tiem I fire up the game.

maybe he got him by adoption seeing as he said that he is a good general

That's part of the reason try never to take wrong culture adoptees unless they're godly. You either have to take a disinherited trait later on or face lots of PO penalties.

Never ever accept other culture people in your faction. It will only cause major unrest.

how do you know what culture they are? when your adopting them?

When you can accept or refuse him to adopt/marry into your family you can see it's traits. One of those traits shows the culture.

Gah, I managed to accept a babylonian into my Selucid family

He didn't have Hellenic as a trait, in fact he had no ethnic trait showing
