    Default New Roman skin

    I have remake the skin of the roman troops based on the 3d modells of Godzilla.What do you think about those?

    Readme :

    1)First of all make a backup of your files (descr_model_battle.txt and export_descr_unit.txt
    2)Then extract the s1AnimPack065 and move its content in the "animations" folder overwriting the existing files
    3)Now open the "descr_model_battle.txt" and the "FILE ALLEGATO=files to change" file,search in the "descr_model_battle.txt" for the units named
    in the "FILE ALLEGATO=files to change" file (eg:type horse_light in the "mount and animals"-section) and overwrite the strings with those in the
    "FILE ALLEGATO=files to change" file (eg:texture romans_iulii, data/models_unit/textures/riczu_roman_horse_light.tga)
    4)Then open the "export_descr_unit.txt" file and control that the roman units names near "soldier"(eg:soldier roman_peasant, 60, 0, 0.7) are the same
    as in "FILE ALLEGATO=files to change".
    You must also change the four attack stats (stat_pri,stat_pri_attr,stat_sec,stat_sec_attr) for the "roman heavy cavalry" unit with those in "FILE ALLEGATO=files to change"
    because that unit uses now different attack types (javelin and gladius instead of spears)
    5)Move now the Data file of the mod to your Rome:TW folder and overwrte the existing one.

    PS.This mod does not contain skins for the armenian or numidian legionary cohort,so if you want them try to take them from the original "descr_model_battle.txt" file (i hope you made a
    backup as suggested and insert them in your modded descr_model_battle.txt in the "roman_legionary_cohort_i" section just below the roman ones.

    Wow......Those are amazing!!!

    May need to talk to ferres or Godzilla about releasing them here though...

    Apart from saying brilliant I can't think of anything else to say, ferres is hard to contact at the moment since his PM option is not enable for some reason, I tried to PM godzilla a few weeks ago and got instant reply.

    Good work, are you using adobe photoshop?

    Awesome Skins , but the models are of Ferres , Godzilla just reworked stuff around on them from what I know ....

    The skins are absolutely beautiful.

    However, I've no idea how to install them, and a babelfish translation of the Italian is rather tough. Could you post an English version of the readme directions in here, by chance? I'd be quite helpful indeed.

    EDIT: After a closer inspection of both text files, they seem to be common-sense directions, but I'm never one to stoop towards hasty judgments. I've got it, I believe, but it's better to err on caution's side.

    Some of them are a bit overdone, but it is objectively a true piece of art. It's like you've picked a stick-figure and made a 100% correct human body out of it.....you just added details everywhere. As I said, it's a little bit overdone with some units (for instance I don't like the hastati having visible wooden shields....of course they were wodden, but painted red at least).

    Some of the soldiers look like they were outfitted by king midas himself.....you should keep in mind that war is expensive and usually you can't outfit troops with such super-high-quality armament. At least it looks great, but I also keep an Eye on realism...

    I'll download it and take out parts here and there and add it as my own custom variation...;-)


    PS: About ferres: It's not that he don't care, he is just too busy with otherprojects andsaid something like "use my work as you wish" and that's it ^^. So I guess there's no permission needed from him and I give my blessing, too *gg*

    I've got it working, though I've noticed formations seem a lot more ragged during marching. Why is that--and does it have to do with the included animations mod from SigniferOne?

    They're ragged, and also particularly confused--they seem to sometimes run around in confusion when ordered to charge, and things like that. They appear to be more like barbarians than disciplined legions.

    Is there a way to fix this problem? I absolutely love the new textures and models, but I can't have legions that don't march or horses that don't charge properly.

    Here is the readme

    animations? I donīt īnow what you mean.My romans march perfectly.Yes of course,you can use the originally animation.You must only owerwrite in the descr_model_battle.txt file the skeleton from fs_s1_gladius to fs_swordsman.For exemple :

    type roman_legionary_cohort_i
    skeleton fs_javelinman, fs_s1_gladius ; throwing javelin
    indiv_range 40
    ...

    to

    type roman_legionary_cohort_i
    skeleton fs_javelinman, fs_swordsman ; throwing javelin
    indiv_range 40

    I didnīt change the horses animations.

    Those subject are mostly Praetorians , anyway , your skins wherent supposed to be 100% Historical but more to be cool to se isn't it? Anyway good job on those .....

    This should really be pinned. I have to admit I'm a bit "against" ferres' models because of there over-done plumes etc... but these... they've got huge plumes etc as well but, they're amazing (as said by previous posters)

    You mean for instance the hastati with feathers + normal plume? Yeah, I agree. But I think at least everyone should be able to download 3ds max trial, open the cas-file, click on the feathers and press "delete"....such as I did *gg*.

    Out of interest why get rid of the features, when it makes the enemies laugh and before they can stop it, they are already dead meat.
