Title says it all. I am debating between starting a Germania campaign or a GCS campaign when I dl the newest version. OF course GCS get new skins, but I have never player Germania. Are they fun? They were awesome in vanilla. Thanks for any imput.

I did, for a bit, mostly because the awesome skirmisher unit is awesome (they had cool shields.... and axes!). But the thing is, I really, really hate the barbarians on the campaign map, so I couldn't get into the campaign. But I think you'd enjoy it if you didn't mind vanilla Germania.
I've heard many people advocate hording and blitzing Rome/Greece with Germania. It sounds really fun. But I'd imagine that turtling is also a good option, as the campaign would presumably become easier as it goes on, since so many (all?) of Germania's units are armor-piercing.
I've played Germania a few times, each time I did mostly the same thing. Take the general in Locus Rugii, and go east recruiting mercs as you go. The the general in the north-west city and attack all the rebel cities to the west, recruiting mercs as you go. Your first turn build should be roads in all settlements, then farms in cities without farms, then keep doing economic buildings except in a couple cities, where you want to build barracks.
You don't have to do this of course, but by the tenth turn or so, you have a very strong base from which to expand or turtle.
