    Default Interesting AI finds....

i was messing around with the startpos.esf and for each faction under the world>faction_array>faction there was the values:

continental_progressive, continental_regressive, trader, industrialist, maritime_progressive and maritime_repressive, and a couple of others, assigned to each of the nations.

to see some results, i changed every single nation to industrialist and full (same as prussian default) and found some interesting changes with their behaviours.

    1) played on VH / VH there SEEMED to be a lot less declarations of war. ive played upto 50 turns for a couple of nations, and there isnt the non stop decleration of war like there usually is. besides the natural occurances, like prussia vs most of europe, austria v ottomans, russia v sweden, they seemed more sensible with their war declerations than usual. you'll also notice the regular 'nation has been destroyed' doesnt appear often. i was used to crimean khanate, ALWAYS getting destroyed by russia, but still into 50 turns and theyre going strong.

    2) they build massive armies. even the tiny minor nations field well over a stack, with larger nations like france, prussia, maratha having many full stacks on their borders early on, which makes it pretty difficult if youre sharing the continent with them.

    3) after a long while as austria, ottomans actually accepted a peace treaty after a constant stalemate of not taking eachothers regions.

    4) marathas confederacy will get into europe. i was only really focusing on EU, but after about turn 15 i checked on the rest of the world. marathas owned all but 1 region of india, but apparently didnt take the last region of the mughals, not sure why.

    5) neighbour allies are still reluctant to send aid when you desperately need it.

    6) i still see armies now and then being transported by fleet, but nations seem more 'conservative' and wont send out their stacks until war is declared right on their borders.

overall, the ai is pretty much 'the same' in terms of its decisions DURING war, for the most part, but definately in the few campaigns ive been doing there are a lot less 1v1v1v1v2v1v2v1 situations going on.

at turn 56 as austria im backed into a corner with ONLY prussia pushing me. poland has taken lots of the ottomans, but hasnt declared war on me at all, despite being a border nation for a long time. maratha confed. will soon expand into europe and will probably win. england and france ONLY JUST declared war on eachother, spain destroyed portugal and wurttemberg, courland, hannover, saxony, savoy are still defending themselves against prussia fairly well.

give it a try and mess around with the different 'types' of ai. industrialist fits my type of play style better so i will stick with it, so people go ahead and mix up continental_progressive with industrialist etc, and see what happens.

These are the AI personalities from the DB table I'd say

No thing is everything. Every thing is nothing.

Yes I would agree with alpaca, however the affects are quite interesting, especially for those of us who like a less wartorn game. +Rep

I've also been using the FULL AI change on minors in my mod. Previously minor factions will declare war quickly against impossible odds, but with the FULL AI they are more reasonable.

I think the repressive/industrialist stuff appear to be mainly for tech research priorities?
