How do I make castles?

I have a settlement, Fangorn, which is a village (I am playing as the Sylvian elves). I would like it to become a castle, not a town, but only get the option to build a palisade wall there. I haven't been playing Medieval recently (I've been sticking to Empire for a while) and am new to TATW, so I might just be missing something here, but how do I make that settlement into a castle?

Any replies much appreciated.

Without modifying the game, you can't. Sorry.

Hi Michael,

you can't convert towns in castles in TATW. You just can't convert settlements at all in TATW. It is predetermined by the modders whether a settlement is castle or city. They have left out that feature of M2TW.

If you really want to convert cities to castles and castles to cities you can always download this sub-mod.
