    Default Removing 13 Colonies + New Spain and Louisiana

    Hi there,

    Im not very expereinced with using EsfEditor, but I am endeavouring to remove the three protectorate factions of New Spain, Louisana and the 13 colonies. By doing this I think that the game will be greatly changed and those three factions will become a lot more powerful and a lot easier to play (Spain's early bankruptcy, Britain's overstretched forces etc).

    I went throuh Esf and deleted all sub-files associted with these factions, and changed the ownership of territories etc. However when I tried to launch a new campaign, it crashed a third of the way through loading (I believe it is around 33% that it loads data from the Esf file) and so I think it is Esf that is causing the crash.

    I think it is either
    A) Its imposible to add/remove factions in E:TW as certain parts are hardcoded/binary
    B) I havent removed all the files associated with the three factions
    C) There is more stuff to edit

    If someone out there with experience in Esf could lend a hand, please do. What would be extremely useful would be a list of all the files in Esf that need to be deleted/edited and what to edit etc.

    There is a mod that prevents the protectorate nations to be handed over to their protecting factions. I just don't remember what it was called.

    it is very easy to script them into being handed over to their parent nations.

    If you open the scripting.lua file in your data/campaigns/main folder, you will soon find the mission that hands them over. If you just remove the conditions, you can hand them over at game start (the numbers are turn numbers, set them all to 0). This effectively kills the factions.
