Default "Unofficial" poll on elves strength for 1.2

Yeah there so the biggest problem I've had with the official releases is how the elves are only slightly elite, I very much preferred them in RR/RC where they were very expensive and extremely low recruitment pools but utterly dominated normal troops, I'm making this to hopefully bring some attention to the matter and hopefully KK may see it and the poll results and go "hmmm the doge and all these dear people might have a point here"

ps oh and btw I think that giving them very high defensive skill especially is a good choice.

oh and if you want to be clever and tell me they're fine and I should just go play RR/RC if I like them really strong then don't bother

I like the idea- which was incorporated with many mods, that units will be slightly more expensive, less in number, but at the advantage of being relatively stronger of attack and defense (Similar to the dwarves)

I still feel that they are underpowered in RR/RC compared to their prices... I could barely recruit anything playing as the High Evles.

Elves in RR/RC have inceased recruitment costs, but reduced upkeep costs, relative to their combat power compared to other factions.

sissy pointy ears (looks around to see mith hasnt seen the post )

but seriously i think rc/rr is pretty close to it with elves but for the main mod a more vanilla approach is probably best i mean not all like such changes many say they want to play in ME but really they want med2 with just fancy looking men

Waiting 9 turns till you can recruit a unit has still nothing to do with ME
If you want ME you would need a mod placed in the Second Age with 1 turn = 2 years or something, because this game will always stay med2 with fancy looking men. (and the SA is perhaps the closest to med2)

PS: nothing against TA:TW, I love it!

One unit to rule them all
    One unit to them
One unit to kill them all
And in the darkness choke them

    Seriously now, they're fine

Maybe 1/3rd of the way towards RR+RC levels (but also raise costs in line) would be a good balance, and ditto with Dwarves.

Elves don't need to be stronger, their forces should be different.
Fewer in numbers, but the individual soldiers should be stronger. But as TW is designed for large units, I'm not sure how that'll work with balance and such.

Elves needs to be stronger than they are now, even stronger than RC/RR.

@ MDT thats why in my post i suggested leaving it in the style it is now as your not looking for a lore accurate game(no game is ever going to be completely lore accurate)

your looking for an experience your use to that you find fun and thats cool your probably in the majority thats why i said leave elves in main mod as they where and also why when they did poll on rr/rc being in the main mod i voted to leave it submod or atleast optional

But in the same token the appearance of such threads also points to that many many people totally dissagree with what you find enjoyable to each there own thats why submods are good it can cater to many different tastes

I would like a lore accurate game, I just wonder why everyone claims RR is lore accurate.

I don't say that RR 'Lore Editition' is lore accurate overall, I would only say that some aspects of it are more lore accurate than vanilla (which is about all that can be done within the game mechanics anyway). Which doesn't necessarily make for a better game, its just down to people's preferences.

Sorry, didn't mean to offend you, indeed you never said it's the holy lore grail, but some people act as if it is.
And in fact when I tested your sub-mod, there where many ideas I really liked!
It's just I find elves in your system to overpowered and teir unit sizes to small to really enjoy them (personal taste)
Which is kind of sad for me because as I said you implemented many good ideas!

on rr/rc they are fine at the campaign start, but when elite units starts to be recruited... with minas tirith and minas ithil and black gate (and every settlement between them), i had 4stacks of elves attacking mordor... it was pretty wtf?, they got pwned of course

purely from a lore point of view, were elves and dwarves really that much stronger than men? I always thought the elvish advantage came in their wisdom, their immortality not necessarily in their strength. I could see an advantage via weaponry...via armor in which case they could get additional buffers via building upgrades. But as far as your basic elf v. basic dwarf v. basic man v. basic orc...with orc obviously falling far below....where does lore stand? Exactly how strong are the races relative to one another?

(and no muffin I'm no slighting hobbits, i'm just focusing my question on the larger army-centric races :p)
Just call me BENTLE, everyone else does...
