real faction names?

I thought Mount&Blade was orientated towards the 12th century? Wouldn't that be a century or so before the golden horde?

Eh who cares it's a game, as far as I'm concerned their real names are:

Swadians
Nords
Vaegirs
Khergits
Rhodoks

The factions are obviously generic ones, roughly based on the medieval cultures of

Western europe (Swadians)
Eastern europe (Vaegirs)
Southern europe (Rhodoks)
Northern europe (Nords)
and nomadic invaders that took over a middle eastern-type area, ala Seljuk Turks, or Turks more generally (Khergits)

The Germans were the HRE and Swadia is probably the HRE due to its size and emphasis on knights. And what do you mean "they even have no cross"? None of the in-game factions have anything related to their likely real-world counterparts. The animal of the Vaegirs is the leopard and the animal of Swadia is the lion

well richard the 3rd had the nickname and as far as i know there are no lions in england, so maybe its a reference to swadian courage?

I'm just saying that there aren't any real references to their "real world" counterparts besides their weapons and armor. Hell, the Khergit symbol is the wolf! Explain that!

but if its based off of animal chracteristics(eg. lion is courage) wolf is deadly but mobile

A lot of the animals don't make sense, but I'm using that as an argument against LORD_NELSON saying the Swadians aren't the HRE just because they don't have a cross
