If perhaps the game engine being used could simulate multiple time periods and looked nicer, with a level of modern polish and extreme attention to detail, then maybe.
While time commanders had its appeal it just ran into the same problem, really. The battles were preety much all in the same 'period'. BBC saw that there would be little-no chance for progression, and bugged out. In my opinion, it was a wise move.
Besides, time commanders was really quite boring if you go and watch an entire episode from begining to end. I was just watching noobs suck at a game for 30 minuites, and occasionally win, but usually fail miserably. The whole exercise seemed like a forray into geekdom.
This isnt meant to bash the RS team or the OP, but this would be a baaad idea.
