    Default Time Commanders RS

Ok, so this is a serious thing. All you need to do really is talk to some TV bosses and the CA desk.

As we all know the Time Commanders series got a bunch of people to play some form of pre-RTW total war engine with a couple of guys in the back room role playing as generals. What would it take to set up that kind of thing using the RS age engine?
Maybe not for TV (OMG but try!) but maybe for personal use in the home using a server configuration.

Damn well I bet most of you can explain this better than I can or maybe I do make sense. x)

All it would take was a team of people willing to play together with a basic knowledge of video recording and editing software. It wouldn't be hard to actually DO, but after that...if like you suggested you wana put it on TV lol...I don't think that will happen. Although youtube would be fine...

It would take alot of organisation and more importantly time to get all the editing to make it good though. Which alot of people don't have. If you wana set it up, feel free to make what ever vids you want lol.

    LMAO! @ Brusilov

And @ Gez, ya that all well and good, but everyone does that. I just meant that it would be good to have a version of Rome made with the RS features that could be integrated into a studio environment, if thats even possible to do without a bunch of BBC IT gods x) (not to say that RS team aint gods! x3)

If the way CA have treated the RTW modding board is anything to go by, if the BBC/HBO/ect made contact with them about something like Time Commanders I bet they would grab the chance.

Yeah they'd rather make a mod for the Roman time frame for their Empire engine, than return to the Rome one.

exactly - Empire is their current cash cow, and getting people to buy Empire is their current market stratergy, so why would they want to encourage people to buy second hand or Budget copies of RTW when they can push their over priced current game

The BBC always have money, and the History channel have more.

Anyway. I can't remember there being any money troubles 3 years ago.

^ Do you know how the history channel and BBC got that money ? Knowing when to trash bad ideas and keep good ones. To them, a good idea is one that will have mass appeal and make money. Why then would they set up a roma surrectum TV show ? It only appeals to a small niche, and it would be using an old, graphically uninteresting game engine that just looks rather... ugly, today. In addition, they'd also not only have to tangle with CA, but the RS team legally, which would be essentially Legal total clusterf***. If perhaps the game engine being used could simulate multiple time periods and looked nicer, with a level of modern polish and extreme attention to detail, then maybe.

While time commanders had its appeal it just ran into the same problem, really. The battles were preety much all in the same 'period'. BBC saw that there would be little-no chance for progression, and bugged out. In my opinion, it was a wise move.

Besides, time commanders was really quite boring if you go and watch an entire episode from begining to end. I was just watching noobs suck at a game for 30 minuites, and occasionally win, but usually fail miserably. The whole exercise seemed like a forray into geekdom.

This isnt meant to bash the RS team or the OP, but this would be a baaad idea.

Though it would be awesome to see Time Commanders again, you must think why did they stop showing it before.

And Pullo, yes in the UK Rome was aired on BBC 2 i believe.
