    Default Installing Patches

Ok, Ive done this a hundred times, Downloading patches to total war games used to be easy.
However, as i have recently acuired a new pc (acer with vista) I suddenly find myself unable to install any patches to medieval total war.

What happens is when i download a patch from (gamers hell f.eks) the patch appear in .rar form. And when i open them, i only get a useless link to the internet, witch sends me back to the original "open" or "save" screen.

Eirmar, .rar is just a file that's been compressed for download. Do you have an extraction utility? Something like WinRAR, 7zip or the like is needed to extract these files. Possibly you found some program earlier and forgot to download it to your new machine?

Good luck. Let us know if you still can't make it work.

Are you using a download manager? Most sites will give you just a link instead of the file if you try to use one.

None of those files are useless. All are needed. You need to look for the "Setup" executable file. Double-click this file and it will open the InstallShield Wizard to update your game to 1.3.

Glad to help. I'm working with the Gold edition but if you have bought the games individually then there's a different procedure. I think you have to update the main game from 1.0 to 1.2 before you can go to 1.3. Hope that helps.

    First install the basic game.
    Then install Kingdoms.
And then you are at version 1.03 (1.3)

It's as easy as that. (If you have the expansion)
