    RETURN of the HORDE

    finally the horde shall return, the much anticipated follow on to rise of the horde ( yeah i think all of 2 people are waiting for this) the original idea was spawned from alpacas work but on starting the project i complety negated his work to opt for a method of my own i must mention Augustas and Mayankayne who helped me when i got stuck on some trigger conditions

    you all know what it does yes the horde comes back if you miss treat those you have conquered bringing a dead faction back to life( no zombies a uprising of the original peoples of the lands you have stolen).

    They say kill a man your a murderer kill a nation a conquerer well now just be sure those you have conquered do not murder you

    Q why would it be good for hotseat
    A1 it allows those who are playing a small nation a greater chance of living for longer being able to horde.
    they can hide a royal family member away in the woods and from there send an army to regain there lands

    A2 it adds so many more tactics to the game and increases the use of ones already there such as your foe has conquered a whole nation well send in your assasins and destroy the buildings of happyness send your priests of a different religion in to cause religious unrest and if you push hard enough the horde may rise up again giving your foe something else to contend with other than you

    A3 your ally and friend has been conquered and is out of the game well see the above method and cause him to come back your foes will have to be masters of agents as well as war to prevent you hounding them

    Q why would it be good for a single player game
    A1 for all the reasons above of increased tactics but also for a much greater level of difficulty you will have to be a true master of diplomacy and war to win THINK YOU CAN

    take the return of the horde challenge if you can complete a short campaign on vh vh with return of the horde ill rep you if you can complete a long one(and you will need to be a master to do such ) ill rep you 2 times... think you can handle it i dare you to try ..


    return of the horde has rise of the horde in it as default it is not current save game compatable you will need to start a new game to see return of the horde it is only for version 4.1 KGCM

    just extract this file to your KGCM file and click yes to merge and overwrite There was a spelling error in the campaign file so this will need to be manually installed i will put up a correct file for this sorry or this has now been modified to the correct file re download and install again

    How many files are changed, so that I know which ones to switch out inbetween hotseat and single player?

    Has anyone been able to get a "rebellion" yet? If so, how did it get triggered for you and how was dealing with the horde?

    fles changed are descr_sm_faction descr_settlement_mechanics and the all important campaign script
    i am yet to see how well the AI handle the horde how trully aggressive they will be but in testing they always come back at war with who killed them and with abysmal relations and well have attacked me so i am prettyhappy so far

    of note i have put a way in that you can stop a horde from rising against you a sneaky hint who is the one person a people will not fight against

    if after everyone has tested this if they dont find the horde agressive enough ill add more to the campaign script forcing them to attack outright the nearest city can be done as i have attached a label to the leader of the horde

    for those who wish to have no garrison withthis submod ill be putting that version up tommorrow i taking a little break and enjoying playing the game LOL

    I haven't downloaded it yet since I want to finish up may latest campaign and read some of the initial feedback, but I'm watching this closely

    Hey Soul Firez, thought you should know, that one of the folders in your file is spelled wrong, so it won't install correctly unless you manually put things where they are supposed to go haha. Its the Campaign folder.... its spelt Camapaign in the file....

    If the Re-emerging factions script work out well it may make it into Patch 4.2! The next update is a long way off so there will be plenty of time to perfect this. Same as XAI 3.4, over the coming months it will be tweaked to perfection. And there will be an open Beta thread for it where we will take up peoples suggestions and feedback.

    @ forrestrain it is a hording script it also is a re emerging faction script if you let the original people get unhappy there is a good chance they will revolt in the form of a horde with a new king and family line started up again (back from the dead so to speak )

    DARN POPE! just a turn away from destroying the vile Irish and he orders me to cease attacks on them! In the interests of not getting excommunicated in this game, i will wait 7 turns and THEN destroy them! HA!

    In the meantime.... where are those Welsh!?

    After a few weeks playing ETW I am back playing KGCM again. And I have just started a new campaign as Venice on VH/VH using XAI 3.4 and with your horde script also included. So as soon as I see a horde I will give you some feedback mate. Keep up the good work.

    I'm assuming this is compatible with XAI? I took a quick look and didn't see any files that would conflict with each other, but it doesn't hurt to check.

    nope it all works with XCAI XBAI 3.4 AI files rarely conflict with anything and to be honest the new AI handles the hording armies well alot more effectively

    I am using XAI now and its great the horde is more dangerous than ever

    I have 4.1 KGCM, and when i try and install this it will not unpack the files!

    Im selecting to unpack them at C:/ program files/SEGA/ Medieval/ Mods/ KGCM but it pops up a winrar error message saying access denied.

    It asks do i want to overwrite the files already there with same name, i click yes, and a new error window opens saying Access Denied to every file i try to extract!

    How do i fix this?

    do you have win rar win zip or whats the other one called 7 zip or something ??? basicly you need a program that will uncompress compressed files has it has been compressed to fit on the site there is a link around here somewhere for a free use zip program but if you just do a search for win rar you will find plenty free sights mate

    EDIT i also see your a vista user i am also but in the early days i found i had to turn user account control off as well as you describe it actually makes 2 paths for your files and not one you may need to check that all the files of the submod are going to the right path .

    When i turned user account control off and re installed everything it runs and installs just like xp no hidden files no having to check this file readable only off so you could change files. It was a nightmare i couldnt install the improved visuals pack as well it had some files from the same folder in the 2 locations eg was spread out all over the place and was a stupid waste full pain in the butt...........

    Yeah, i am using winrar!

    Also, how do i turn user account control off? The CPU i use isnt solely mine, wont this stop us all having our own user log ons?

    I also see you mentioned re-installing! So if switching user control thing off is fine, i will still need to completely delete all my games? Just Kingdoms? Just the KGCM and patches?

    I dont really wanna un-install and lose all my one player campaigns im doing, plus with games like RTW i have things like playerlists etc, i dont wanna lose those either?

    thats strange it was compressed with winrar try downloading it again an extract as you said to that location( the submod not winrar that is)

    I would not turn user account control off then as i am the only user of this pc it does not affect me but if you wish to have multiple users then dont and it doesnt need to be re installed if you had switched it off, i merely re installed med2 as i wished the files to be located in one place with no hidden files(yes even when you click to show all hidden files it still doesnt un hide core files)

    this is microsofts saftey method to stop anyone messing with core files and making your pc unoperatable, but the files in the submod should still locate in the normal path so if you can get it unpacked to extract then following normal method should work

    make sure they are not read only.
