Why do you use .7z and not winrar? 7z is the most stupid program ive ever seen and i cant extract any of the files. It tells me Cannot open file: bla bla bla

7z files are smaller than rar files. The smaller the file the easier it is to upload.

Also 7zip is free and WinRaR is not. Unless you know of another freeware product that can unpack 7z files I will continue to use 7zip.

Winrar doesnt need to be bought, you can still use it you just get a message "Do you want to purchase" each time starting winrar. By the way, Ive still got the problem, 7z doesnt unpack the 3 files i downloaded, ive followed your instructions, it still doesnt seem to work

I didn't know that but it doesn't change the fact that 7z files are smaller than rar files.

Here is what I wrote in the first post.

2) Right click on the 'conquest 1.5.7z.001', select '7-zip' on the pop-up menu, then select 'Extract Here'. 7zip will unpack all three files. If you have problems extracting these files you can download the whole mod as one file here http://depositfiles.com/en/files/opie1pxqq .

Did you:

1) Right click on the 'conquest 1.5.7z.001'.

Here it is. Extract to your main Medieval 2 Directory (ex C:\Program Files\SEGA\Medieval II Total War)

Hey I'm the brother of 6644kp who unlike me has no interest in Medieval 2 and only likes the political section.

My question is that if I do what you say will the mod replace any of Medieval 2's files or will it run seperate and not tweak with the Medieval 2 files?

I'm totally lost after the unpacking part. I unpacked, and I'm currently trying to extract all of the files to the Medieval 2 directory, but when I check it isn't there.

Also, when it asks me if I want to replace some of the pre-existing M2 folders with the new folders, am I supposed to say no? Because that's what I've been doing.

The mod needs to add two files to the 'data' folder and the whole mod to the 'mod' folder. If you don't copy the mod to these folders it won't work and the files needed will not be in these folder.

It's much more simple and free.

To put this mod on Pirates Bay I would have to create a torrent and seed it. As I can't seed this mod very often it would take a long time to download.

installed 1.6 sucessfully ,but carnt play 970 campaign i select it but nothing happens ? I download the patch ,it says open and paste but it doesn't open !

Just to make one thing clear. If I am going to overwrite whole bunch of files that means that this is not a clean install.....I mean its not like third age or SS where you install everything in a seperate folder?

This means it will interfere with my other mods and the 1.5 game itself?

The Conquest mod has its own mod folder which contain most of the files. The only files it adds to the vanilla files are the 'shared.sd' and 'strategy.sd', which add extra shields. These will interfere with any mod that doesn't use these files (any mod that has more than 20 factions shouldn't be affected).
