    Default Batavia: Total War

I have decided to move the old topic to here (and in the meantime add some more information) as it belongs more in the era of Medieval II.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Hello everyone, I'm new here. I want to apologise for the spelling errors I will make in this post (as I'm Belgian). On the moment I'm reading through some stuff to know the basics of how to make a mod for Rome:TW. But I'm just starting and know nothing yet.
However, I have an idea for a mod. I have a 'hobby', called internet micronations, in which we make our own nation on the internet. This happens via the internet (writing laws, elections, debates, speaking with each other, etc.). My Dutch nation, Batavia (Batavië in Dutch), has been around since 2006. In that time, we have made some culture and wrote a fictional history.

Based on real life, there once was an empire (the Benacian empire) which ruled almost the wole Benacian continent. This empire felt apart in the year 489 and since then there was a struggle to become the dominant faction. In fictional history, the Kingdom of 's Koningenwaarde united the Batavian lands and formed Batavia.
I would like to have a game that begins after the fall of the Benacian empire. Several small factions comes into existance and the fight for unification starts. I already have information to base on and create the factions. I also have a map, which can hopefully be integrated in the game.
As this game plays in Batavia, only the Batavian areas (and some other Benacian cities) should be in the game.

What I would integrate: the current Batavian lands, the northern lands of current Gascony (a civilization bit like the Gauls) and in the east some old Benacian areas. Then Benacium can play a part in a possible creation of a new Benacian Empire.
Factions would not only be the Gascons (always been independent from the Empire and now ready to conquer the lands) and the Benacians (who want to conquer back their rich lands), but also the several Batavian factions: the confederation of Ingelburg, 's Koningenwaarde (but better to reffer to them as Batavians), Dukedom of Dietsland, Dukedom of Irrel, etc.
I can give enough factions, but I will try to restrict it to a maximum of 7 factions.

I need to mention that the planet, Micras, is in fact an organisation from many different micronations. A lot of the nations that I want to integrate are around on the internet (what makes it easier to have flags, etc.).
To see a map of Micras, click here. The orange colour on the most north-western continent (Benacia) is Batavia. This is a bigger map of Batavia (but it's an old one, so Benacium, the old capital of the Benacian empire, isn't on the map)

I hope there are people interested to (help to) make this mod. I can't code anything, but I can help with ideas, the factions, names, events and pictures (flags, etc.). It hasn't to be as develloped as most of the other games I have seen here, you can even let the battles away (that makes it a lot more boring, I know, but I really like to have a rough version of a game for Batavia).

EDIT: If I have a team (or people who are interested to help), I will make a map to show which regions need to be made.

The text at the beginning of the story:
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Ah! The year 490… a year back people lived peaceful under one ruler and one empire. However, with the collapse of the Benacian Empire, this period of peace had ended. Immediately after its collapse, the western and once the richest part of the empire became very popular to the northern tribes. Divided between several smaller kingdoms and duchies, the Batavian lands appear to be weak and unprepared to defend their regions. In the meantime, in the east, the City State of Benacium tries to reconquer the lost land and glory it once had.

    Factions with some information:
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    Hertogdom Davignon
Title leader: Duke (Hertog in Dutch)
    Title Heir: Heir

The proud Duchy of Davignon came to existance around 480. Originally, the title of Duke was a gift from the Benacian Emperor to his governor, Abraham Windsor. Nine years later, when the Empire collapsed, the Duchy becamean independent state.
It develloped quickly in one of the mightiest countries in the Batavians Lands. The Windsor Dynasty has great plans and waits for a competent general as you, to lead their forces to victory!

    Koninkrijk Batavië
Title leader: King (Koning in Dutch)
    Title Heir: Prince (Prins)

The kingdom of Batavia didn’t exist untill 1635, when the Batavian lands were united by King Alfons I of Batavia. The name however was frequently used to refer to the Kingdom of ‘s Koningenwaarde.
Because of its central position, it became one of the major factions in the Batavian Lands. With access to the sea and command over the more important trade routes, it could go everywhere. However, this central position made the kingdom very popular by rival factions and makes an unification of Batavian Lands very hard.

    Ingelburgse Confederatie
    Title leader: Raadsfunctionaris
    Title Heir: Heir

A lot of nobles in the regions, which nowadays form the region of Ingelburg, understood the danger of staying small, independent factions. After much negotiating, and a war that had weakened the duchy of Vinandy, so it was forced to join the union, a confederation was formed. The Confederation of Ingelburg was on the border with Gasconian regions and was in constant war with the northern barbarians.
This, however, didn’t stop them to go to war against the Principality of Zeehuysen-Staverden, which still hold some important regions in Ingelburg.

    Prinsdom Austrasië
    Title leader: Prince (Prins)
    Title Heir: Heir

Probably the oldest nation within the Batavians Lands is the Principality of Austrasië. Before the conquest by the Benacians in 456 B.C., it was an independent kingdom which had influence over the northern parts of present Batavia. Now it has reconquered its independence. Maybe it will restore its old empire once again and rule North-Batavia. It will not be easy, with the Gasconians and the Benacians at the gates.

    Vorstendom Zeehuysen-Staverden
Title leader: Prince (Vorst in Dutch)
    Title Heir: Heir

Atleast one faction that took advantage of the old bureaucratic system of the Benacians, was the Principality of Zeehuysen Staverden. This island nation was formed after the creation of a personel union between the principality of Zeehuysen and the County of Staverden.
By using old imperial decrees, Zeehuysen succeeded in the unification of the two island nations and could convince the regions at the westcoast (of what later became the region of Ingelburg) to join them. The Confederation of Ingelburg isn’t happy with this growing faction in its backyard. The distance between the islands of this faction could make conquest very hard, but the same time makes defending much more difficult.

    De Baronische Landen
    Title leader: Prefect
    Title Heir: Heir

The Baronian Countries quickly develloped from the ashes of the once powerful Benacian Empire. Just like the Confederation of Ingelburg, it united several smaller feudal factions in one larger country. First started as a federation, but later it became a strong unitary state. With the Dietish and Batavians looking for expansion to the south-east, a good commander is needed to lead his armies to victory.

    Duchy of Gascony
Title leader: Duke (Hertog in Dutch)
    Title Heir: Heir

They are famous for their courage and strength. But even more for their resistance against foreign forces. Attempts by the Benacians to conquer the Gasconian territories were useless and brought many kaisers almost in a terrible debt.
For ages they resisted those foreign forces, but because of a lack of a central government, there counter-attacks and invasions in the Imperial Benacian regions ended up in terrible defeats.
In 732 BC, however, the Gasconian tribes were united by Dutch Harold I of Gascony. Almost a century has passed, and now the Gasconians think about themself as one people and one country. With still some minor rebels resisting the unification of the north and in the south several nations fighting to become the dominant faction, this could become the Era of the Gasconians!

    Empire of Benacium
    Title leader: Emperor (Keizer)
    Title Heir: Crown Prince

After the fall of the Benacian Empire, the old capital of Benacium became nothing more then a city state with an emperor and a glorious history. Weak Emperors had brought the Empire to fall, but many Benacians are from the opinion that a new, strong, Emperor can rebuild the empire and reconquer what once was from them. It will not be easy, with the Gasconians at the gates of Batavia, a new growing Principality of Austrasië and others who want to unite the Batavian Lands under their banners.

Some World Wonders (no pictures, sorry):
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    The Stone Circle
20% less costs to build a building.

This impressive circle of giant stones was built by the Batavians in prehistoric times. In those times it was common that the rivers flew over and whole villages and tribes disappeared with the water. This monument, built on a hill, was made by the Batavians who believed that the flood was a punishement of the Gods. At some moments in time, people even offered human sacrifices.

    Wall of Nero
    20% less military costs.

The Wall of Nero was a wall built a the border between Batavia and Gascony. It used to protect the Batavian regions against barabarian invasions. With the collapse of the Empire, the wall was broken down and used to build forts or houses. Since then, the Barbarians are free to walk in and destroy the regions. This wall was from an impressive length, and there are still some parts of it left.

    Theatre of Appel
    +5% hapiness

Appel once was the capital of the Kingdom of Austrasië. The Coloseum was built in 561 BC as a proof of the greatness of Austrasian architecture and had an impressive size for that time. When Benacians conquered the region in 456 BC, the Theatre was used by the Emperors to give speeches and boost up the moral of the troops. Since 409 BC, the Theatre was once again open for the normal citizens.

    Catodral of Pentapolis
    +10% religious conversion.

This impressive catodral (similar to a Cathedral) was built by Benacian Emperors between 50 BC and 67 as a symbol to show that they recognised the existence of the Batavian religion.
After the collapse of the Empire, the Catodral became an important religious symbol for all religions.

That brings us to the religions (if possible):
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

The religions which are active in Batavia are polytheistic

    Batavian Church
The hierarchy is equal to the Catholic Church. But there is more then one God and the highest leader of the church is the Archbisshop (however, this function didn’t exist in that time, so we don’t really need to care about that).

    Soloralism
A religion brought to Batavia ages ago by merchants and foreign travellers. It lost much of its believers, but is still popular in the east (Benacium, Baronische Landen and Austrasië).

    Cedrism
A religion spread through Micras and the continent by the Shirerithians from the far east. Only Gascony has this religion as state religion.

I'm really looking for help to develop this mod. It hasn't to be so much developed (but needs to be playable), I don't care much about the units. Some name changes would be more then enough.

    Mmm fantasy land?
I have my own ideas about Batavia. It was a Germanic tribe that lived for centuries in the Netherland.
Maybe one of ours must change name é?
