I think they'll release one more DLC(elite units of the east) and then the modding tools will be released after that. I for one don't think CA is stupid and they realize that if they don't release the modding tools a lot less people will buy the game.

They're going to look to get as much money as they can before handing out the tools to do taht stuff yourself. Capitalism my friend.

A lot of you don't really understand that CA has never released any worthwhile "mod tools" for their games, so why should they now?
Especially since they can make so much more money charging for DLC. Why on Earth do you think the new files are encrypted so they can't be modded even if we had the tools?
Is everyone who voted "Soon" or "After The DLC" just daft? Or are you all practicing blindly optimistic faith at this point?

I voted 'never' because of what I've seen in the past.
I remember several of us, myself included, begging CA for a strat map editor for RTW/M2TW so we could create new campaigns. Nothing ever materialized there. So a handful of us went about breaking down the strat map and its innards. In the end, we had to do everything by hand. Then we ran into the infamous "coastlines" issue, of which CA offered zero insight or help on. And with as many hand-drawn campaign maps as I created, I know CA didn't do the vanilla ones pixel-by-pixel like we did. There was a map editor. And they froze up like a Walt Disney on us about it, leaving us with our junk in the wind.
So in the end, no. I have zero faith in CA releasing anything useful.
