    Icon4 Problems/bugs with 6.1 BB2

Hi all! First, long life to DLV!

1=> I plaid Mongol and Flanders, and after 54 years I never had children (one princess with flanders...). Some people has the same bug.

2=> All the gov/mil points aren't in the script text. Large wall -1 gov per turn per example.

3=> The AI rarelly takes the mini fort at the beginning. Important.

4=> With civilis studies, a general can't have more than ten years of campaign. Why?

    Cheers.

Thorolf was thus armed. Then Thorolf became so furious that he cast his shield on his back, and, grasping his halberd with both hands, bounded forward dealing cut and thrust on either side. Men sprang away from him both ways, but he slew many. Thus he cleared the way forward to earl Hring's standard, and then nothing could stop him. He slew the man who bore the earl's standard, and cut down the standard-pole. After that he lunged with his halberd at the earl's breast, driving it right through mail and body, so that it came out at the shoulders; and he lifted him up on the halberd over his head, and planted the butt-end in the ground. There on the weapon the earl breathed out his life in sight of all, both friends and foes. [...] 53, Egil's Saga
I must tell you here of some amusing tricks the Comte d'Eu played on us. I had made a sort of house for myself in which my knights and I used to eat, sitting so as to get the light from the door, which, as it happened, faced the Comte d'Eu's quarters. The count, who was a very ingenious fellow, had rigged up a miniature ballistic machine with which he could throw stones into my tent. He would watch us as we were having our meal, adjust his machine to suit the length of our table, and then let fly at us, breaking our pots and glasses.

    Hiya Brips

1, Did you expand or adopt? If you didn't do the first enough or you did the second too much then you should have this problem.

    3, Why is that important?

1=> 0 adopt and I took one castle.
3=> I think that's important because they try to take them and after they give up... Not very important in fact.

I have sort of remedied problem number 4 and 1 (but first ONLY in a VERY small manner since I don't want to change balance too much).

Hint: Grim Crowns and Movement change. (And I need feedback on changes if you like them or dislike them not +rep )

I played a game as Sicily, getting to about 20 turns and noticed that my faction heir was never ever knighted even though he took 4 settlements, one being as after I had successfully called a crusade against .. Marsaille .. I believe. Thus I had to use my faction leader to build things in my Capital which is a castle.

Is this intended? or was something missed because I believe that in vanilla 6.1 that faction heir can build a stable even if he is not a knight. I should think that Heirs should be able to be knighted or should start with ability similar to faction leaders wherein they can build anything or perhaps only up to a certain point.

Also ... wth? Muslim archers are freakin NUTS in both vanilla DLV and BB2 .. in fact in BB2 I think they get buffed .. no?

    cheers, thanks for your work

Hiya Raum ul Amon, thanks for the feedback

What does 'freakin nuts' mean? Are they too strong in your opinion or something like that?

I like the idea of knighting heirs...

I think I have seen a way to balance this (sort of , bugs might still creep back because of M2TW engine and you would still need to take settlements but it would be less of a problem).
Basically it would mean reducing chance to get wife had difficult birth and increasing chance for wife is robust as well as few other traits.

    Hey Taiji ..

mmmm ... just saying the Muslim archer is pretty powerful is all.

I checked that out and found that my faction heir in Vanilla DLV could build the military buildings but with the BB2 he can't because he isn't a knight and I have fought a dozen battles with him (faction heir) and it doesn't look like he is going to become a knight which seems kind of weird.

Maybe you need more military points? Constructing new buildings is dependant on those points rather than the rank of a general as far as I know. But one thing BB certainly does do different in this area is to make all military related buildings tied to military points. I could probably change the text on the event pop-ups to explain this. It also affects military related buildings in cities, like smiths and militia barracks, so it really should get explained I suppose. Thanks for reminding me

    @raum
faction leaders/heirs don't gain the knight-etc-etc-etc trait line

Its a bloody shame when you best general suddenly becomes your faction heir and loses ability to recruit good units..... i never got why the faction leader can recruit asif he has maxed military rank traits... but the faction heir gets hit by the full brunt of recruitment limitations.(with no hope of personally recruiting better units until he steps up to the throne.)

also.. if not enough kids.. try adding 'fertility 32' as an effect for both faction leader and faction heir traits >.>

I would give this mod a 6/10. It crashes randomly whenver I click for the next turn, takes way too long to starting loading a custom battle, crashes if you click on more than two factions to choose from in main campaign and almost always crashes in custom campaign. There are also way too many rebel cities in the game, and the option where AI has more units when sieged is called cheating. And the tab called 'editor' in options does nothing.

I was really impressed with the menu font and background though, and unit and building icons were really well done. The units are also good themselves.

First I have to say I have really enjoyed DLV. But this is a bugs thread so...

    2 things...

1st my problem, Every time I take an enemy's last settlement the game freezes when the faction turns into a horde and tries to migrate. I have a save right after my battle and after I decide what to do with the settlement (kill everyone or loot... the only real two options) and once I occupy the settlement the game freezes. I know the game is trying to load the horde spawn but it freezes every time. Is there anyway around this?

2nd more of a question why does it take 7 years for a boat full of crusaders to travel from Scotland down to Cordoba? No general is not sick, crippled, or old. Am I the only one who thinks the boat speed while carrying troops is ridiculously slow?

    Hello Scar,

About 1) I have a new computer, about 4 months old now. It has an AMD Phenom II quad core, each core overclocks at 5.0 ghz, 8 gigs of ddr3/1600 ram, 2 gigs of video ram from 2 GTX 280's etc. This is relevant because when a faction hordes on me my computer freezes on me as expected, up to 5 minutes... I don't think its my computer nor yours, its just the engine bogging down.

About 2) Your points are valid. I think that most of the naval system/engine is fubar. Granted, DLV has improved upon CA's system with the tools that they have but you can only do so much... I am currently on step 5 and have come to accept it. I just ignore the cognitive dissonance it causes when I think about it and would suggest the same.

Perhaps someday naval battles will take on their true historic importance in M2TW and be granted more development programming by CA. Wouldn't it be cool to command a fleet like a field army and oversee the ramming, boarding, shooting of the ships involved?

hordes leaving there towns seems to take an incredibly long time..... go watch a movie, cook yourself a nice lunch, or just load it up before heading to work.

Took like 45 minutes for france to horde in my flanders game...

I wonder if the Hordes should be optional.
Like the settlement cost and other optional stuff.
And fact that M2TW engine seems to execute exclusively single core (not that having few more will not help with background processes but that will ewally count only if you turned on too many).
And on top of that this event seems really poorly optimized.

Thanks for the plug Agis .

Grim, your idea about making hordes optional is excellent.

About hordes. I've learned you can shut them off as per Harry Lime's post.
