Medieval TW (1) Question/Problem

Laptop with onboard Intel series 4 GPU/Vista with 2GB of RAM/dual core...

Game installed fine.... went to play, chose time period and faction and game begins to load. When the red bar finishes crossing the screen, the game jumps back to main menu with an option to Resume Game, even though I haven't officially started one. I set the resolution to 1024x768 on the computer as I did in game - no luck. I even installed patch 1.1 - any ideas on how to make this run or do I have to build an old PC with Windows ME on it to play this classic?! LOL....

PS - RTW and MTW2 install and played fine on this machine in the past.... I have also played Spore and COD4 on here, so this machine can handle it, but I am thinking maybe Vista is the issue? Any news from CA to fix this issue for their older titles? Any help would be appreciated.
