Game crashing problems
I have had crashing problems as well.
Currently I have had this issue with every faction and it appears to be a problem on EVERY machine I have installed Rome Total war on. It does not matter what faction you play at, but at some point when loading a game, ending a turn, or saving a game; then it crashes to the desktop with no error message. There are errors in the event viewer on Windows XP, but I am certain that the problem is not a corrupted save game.
The system I am running is an Athlon X2 4800+
GeForce 7600GS 512 MB
1.5 GB DDR 400
160 Gb SATA HD
SATA DVD RAM
IDE DVD ROM
Also running the program on an Intel Core 2 Duo on a laptop.
Both machines will crash to the desktop after loading a game. I can restart the game with another faction, but when teh game gets to about 200 BC it starts the crashing problems. I have contacted Activision's help concerning this and they said that machines running newer video cards can have problems like this. Other than that I have received no help with these issues and I would like to finish the game that I started when I purchased Rome TW. I can even provide Windows event viewer errors if anyone here has an idea how to fix this.

Re: Game crashing problems
I split this into a new thread as the other thread was over twelve months old.
Make sure that you've added the -show_err switch to the shortcut target - this may return an error message if it's trapped by the program (it doesn't always do this but it can be useful).
The only other thing to suggest is to go through the following 'good practices': http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=100384
