    Default A couple of questions.....

    Hey all,

Ive been browsing this forum and playing a Gondor VH/VH campaign pretty obsessively this weekend and have thought of two points which i thought i would bring up....

    1) Why is there not a road directly from Minas Terith to West ? (i cant remember the city name but it begins with a 'G') - it would be amazingly useful ! although i guess this is from a Gondor point of view.

    2) I am not sure if it is avaliable but it would be pretty interesting for any Total War Campaign to have under the 'Faction Information Screens' a kill count for your overall Campaign - How many soldiers you have lost and how many enemies you have killed. By no means is this crucial to the game but i just think it would be nice to look at....and of course i know i could tally it up myself but well...im lazy.

i don't really know but i think i can tell you anyway. okay lore-wise
there should have been a road - that's true. but i think King Kong
hasn't made a road there because as you know taking roads make
armies travell a lot faster. and to see the enemy coming (because
he needs at least 2 turns to get to minas thirit) there is no road.
because mordor likes to send army after army to capture settlements.
and so it is more likley that there is one army at your gates and the
other one still needs some time to get to minas thirit. just a matter af balancing.

i know. that would be great. i think i remember a similar thing
in Stainless Steel. there was no information screen about the
actual killing number of a general, but i remember a trait or something
that you get when you killed 1000, 2000, 5000, 10000 and so on enemies.

a information screen is not possible but a trait with this rounded
informations might be possible. i looked in honga military academy
but i couldn't find this thing. anyone? KK?

It was the victory monuments you can get by winning heroic battles. The numbers are always exaggerated though, as things tend to be back in Middle Ages.

Yes, that definately makes sense, i was just looking at it in a selfish point of view, i am currently holding East Golgosomething and am struggling to keep it reinforced now Mordor is bringing on an onslaught of Trolls and with a recently called Invasion, the road would be useful now, however, im sure ill be totally agreeing with you as the shoe will be on the other foot if it falls and Mordor begins to push towards Minis Tirith

Well, actually I also wanted this "a number of kills" feature from the beginning, but that's not really possible. The numbers of Byg's SS sub-mod are more or less fictional numbers based on victories and given odds.

However, it would be possible to count the kill-numbers of a general, which could be shown in the traits of every general.
I guess that's better than nothing.
are you really sure about that. becasue roads use
rivercrossings - and rivercrossings are fdefinatley made
by the creaor of the map. also it seems wuite unrealistic
becasue when you watch the roads they are sometimes
taking another way than the nearest to the next town.
    through forests (mirkwood).
and they have kinda strange forms for AI-created.
yes, axnsan is right. Roads follow more or less the geography and several other factors, so this can only be partly influenced. It would be possible to have a straight road to osgiliath, but I would have to make most of the "pelennor fields" in front of MT unpassable.

It's not up to King Kong to make a road go from x to y. The road automatically takes the closest available route to a neighbouring region. Only thing KK can do is put obstacles in it's path or block it completely to disable it.

This would be the number of kills of general's bodyguards,I deem? or the kills of his army?

The kills of the general himself. At least that's what I think KK meant by being possible to count with traits.

This sounds great. Would really help with immersion. You'd have this general, who has been through countless battles, with tens of thousands of orcs fallen by his sword.
